B.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Apparatus for loading and unloading tanks for compressed and liquefied gases. ¯¯¯¯¯ -------------------------------
The present invention relates to an apparatus for loading and unloading containers for compressed and liquefied gases.
The invention consists in that a shut-off valve and an adjustable pressure-reducing and safety valve are provided and are connected together such that when the apparatus is actuated, the relief valve. shutter opens before the reducing valve and closes later than the reducing valve.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing.
The figure shows the device in vertical section with the valves open. The apparatus has a valve box 2 which can be screwed onto a usual reservoir 1 for compressed and liquefied gases. In the valve box
2 is screwed by means of the screw thread 3a to a shut-off valve body 3. In the lower part of the shut-off valve body 6 there is disposed a blocking 4 made of ebonite. Parts 2, 3 and 4 form the shut-off valve
B.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In the lower part of a valve stem 6 of hollow shape is fixed a cylindrical transverse pin 34 which carries a movable coupling member 5. The lower end of the coupling member 5 can slide in a groove 36 which is formed in the shut-off valve body 3. By means of the coupling member 5, a rotational movement of the valve stem 6 is transmitted to the valve body 3
Above the coupling member 5, a ring 35 on which a filter 53 rests has been screwed into the lower cavity of the valve stem 6.
The valve box 2 has upwards a neck 2a provided with an external thread onto which is screwed a screw cap 7. Between the lower bottom surface of the screw cap 7 and the front surface of the neck of the valve. valve box 2. there is a sealing ring 8.
On the outer thread of the screwed cap 1 is screwed a sleeve 9 which carries on each side, parallel to the median axis, an extension 10. These extensions 10 project through a wall 37 mounted on a hub 37a and belonging to to an adjustment manohon 11 serving as a handwheel. When the sleeve 11 is rotated, the extensions 10 and therefore the sleeve 9 are driven while at the same time moving in the axial direction. The hub 37a has a quadrangular hole for the corresponding shaped middle part of the valve stem 6. The wall 37 rests by means of rings 12 on the upper front face of the sleeve 7 and is pressed down by a spring 13.
The upper end of the spring 13 is pressed against a sleeve 14 which is provided with an extension which is screwed, with interposition of a packing 15, on the upper end of the valve stem 6.
A stronger outer spring 16 is disposed between the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
support discs 17 and 18. The disc 17 rests on the extensions 10 and consequently follows all the axial translational movements thereof. A hat-shaped flexible partition 21 is clamped at its outer edge against an inner shoulder of the adjusting sleeve 11 by a cover 19. The perforated upper part of the partition 21 is clamped by a nut 20 on a shoulder of the sleeve. 14, the nut 20 being screwed onto the upper part of the sleeve 14.
On the partition 21 rests a cap 22 extending in an upward cone which is guided by the nut 20. On the cap 22 is located on each side of the median axis one of the ends of a lever. oscillating 23. The other ends of these oscillating levers are articulated to the nut 20 and are held in position by a nut 24. The nut 24 is screwed onto a piston 25 which is widened in the part located in the sleeve 14 and carries a box packing 26. The lower end of the piston 25 is pressed by a spring 27 against the end of the duct provided in the valve stem 6. The end of the valve stem and the enlarged part of the piston 25 in the sleeve 14 form the reducing valve A.
The valve box 2 has a tubing 28 on which is screwed, with the interposition of an etanoheity gasket 31, a cap 30 in which a pressure gauge 29 is fixed.
The operation of the device is as follows:
When the apparatus is closed, the shut-off valve body 3 of the shut-off valve B rests tightly on its seat 38. The upper reducing valve A is also closed by the fact that the piston 25 is pressed by the spring 27 on the tip of the valve stem 6. The spring 27 is calculated in such a way that it supports the greatest load pressure for the tank 1.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Spring 16 is stronger than spring 27.
If gas is to be charged into the tank 1, the pressure gauge 29 is removed and in its place a high pressure charging pipe is screwed into the pipe 28, 30. The adjustment sleeve 11 is then rotated by a number of turns such that the shutter valve body 3 is lifted from its seat 38, while the greater tension of the spring 16 then occurring simultaneously is not sufficient to open. also the upper reducing valve A. The shut-off valve B and the valve A, serving as reducing and safety valve, are therefore connected to each other in such a way that when actuating l The device the shut-off valve B opens before the reducing valve A and closes later than the reducing valve A.
When the gas charged in the tank 1 has reached the necessary pressure which is determined by the force of the spring 27, the valve A opens and the gas escapes through the channel 32 into the cover 19. Then the shut-off valve B is closed and the pressure gauge 29 is screwed in again.
The opening and adjustment of the pressure reducing valve is effected by adjusting the tension of the spring 16 by means of the adjusting sleeve 11 by the fact that the extensions 10 which are driven by the wall 37, mounted on the hub 37a, of the adjusting sleeve 11, compress the spring 16 to a greater or lesser extent depending on the positioning of the sleeve.
Pressure reduction and automatic closing of the reduction valve! are produced by the piston 25 which is placed under the influence of the two springs 16, 27 and of the flexible partition 21 which are influenced by the adjusting sleeve 11.
If gas is to be taken from tank 1, the lower shut-off valve B is opened by a suitable rotation of the adjusting sleeve 11. During this
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
rotation of the adjustment sleeve 11, the extensions 10 of the sleeve 9 lift the support disc 17, so that the spring 16 is pressed against the flexible partition 21 By this pressure the cap 22 is lifted and the levers 23 are put in rotation so that the nut 24 and the piston 25 are lifted against the action of the spring 27 and the valve is opened.
As indicated by arrows in the figure, the gas leaves the tank 1 through the vertical central channel of the valve box 2, passes through two small oblique channels of the shut-off valve body 3 in the cavity. which surrounds the coupling member 5, then through the filter 33 in the axial duct of the valve stem 6 and around the lower part of the piston 25 in the chamber of the spring 27, then through holes in the nut 20 into the cavity of the cover 19 and thence into the channel 32. The knob of the cover 19 containing this channel 32 can be connected to a flexible pipe which contains a flow pipe for the supply of gas.
If no gas flow is desired, the flexible hose flow valve is closed so that the pressure builds up on the upper surface of the bulkhead 21 until it overcomes the pressure of the spring 16 placed in it. under and close the reduction valve A.
