BREVET D'INTENTION ------------------ Dispositif de réfrigération à air sec. -------------------------------------

PATENT OF INTENT ------------------ Dry air refrigeration device. -------------------------------------
In refrigeration installations, the evaporation elements are generally formed by coils, housed and fixed in the upper part of the chamber to be cooled.
Their use has several drawbacks such as: loss of usable volume of the cold room. The cooled air is stagnant and without circulation, it is difficult to have constant dry air conditioning in the cold room. This latter drawback is explained as follows: during the production of cold by the coils, the humidity of the air freezes on these cooling elements; this frost gradually increases in thickness and forms a real insulating wall on the coils. At some point, it therefore becomes necessary to defrost them. At this time, and whenever for any reason the refrigeration circuit is momentarily interrupted or stopped, the cooling elements ooze. The resulting moisture remains suspended in the air and harms the food to be stored.

The object of the present invention is to advantageously replace the cooling coils with a simple device, of an extremely small volume and high efficiency ensuring, among other advantages, the dry air conditioned in a constant manner, kept in circulation. and distributed evenly in the cold room.
The accompanying drawings show by way of example one embodiment of the device and in these drawings:
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section of the device, and
Fig. 2 shows a cross section of fig.l, along A-B.
The device comprises a base 1 which carries a reservoir 2 having an inlet 3 and an outlet 4 tubing.
The reservoir! is advantageously formed by tubular elements in order to ensure, in a minimal volume, a maximum of cooling surface.
The tubular elements, as well as the surface of the tank can be provided with fins, also having the aim of increasing the cooling surface. The refrigerant, coming from the refrigerating unit, enters the tank 2 through the pipe 3 and fills it up to a determined level, adjusted to constitute a constant level 6, below the outlet pipe 4. This arrangement gives the assurance that the refrigerant liquid sucked by the compressor unit returns to it through the pipe 4 in the gaseous state and not in liquid form. The device comprises, above the tank 2, a cap 7 serving as an air duct, a motor 8 which actuates a fan 9, motor and fan mounted on a frame 10.
The base 1 also comprises a pipe 11 fixed to the reservoir 2 by tabs 13 or in any other way. The duct 11 forms a drainer to collect the droplets and water produced by or

12 provided with holes 18 and flows from the flow tube 14 perforated with holes 22.
The tank provided with fins 5 is surrounded by a cylinder 15, the inner surface of which is in contact with the top of the fins 5, thus forming cells 23 where the air drawn in by the fan will flow. It should be noted that the outer surfaces of the tube bundles of the reservoir 2 are bathed in the refrigerant fluid which fills the reservoir, and the air to be cooled passing through the cells 23 passes into the interior of these tubes against the current.
The outer surface of the cylinder 15 as well as that of the channeling cap 7 and of the base 1 are insulated to prevent any condensation on these outer surfaces.
The frost formed on the surfaces of the tank, of its tubular members and of its fins, remains constantly thin, thanks to the speed of the air circulating under the effect of the fan.
The operation of the device is as follows:
The air from the chamber to be cooled enters the device following the arrows. 11 passes through the cells 23 and passes through the tubulars of the reservoir. The cold, created by the refrigerant fluid introduced into the reservoir, propagates to the air contained in the interior of the device. When the temperature of the air thus cooled reaches, for example, 2 ° C., a thermostat 17, previously set to the desired temperature and operating using a thermometer 19 placed inside one of the tubes of the bundle tubular, controls the starting or stopping of the fan, which delivers the cooled dry air to the ceiling of the cold room from which this air falls in a suitably distributed sheet.
The fan keeps the air in the cold room in continuous circulation and thus ensures the conservation of foodstuffs in the best conditions.

When defrosting becomes necessary, this operation can easily be done either by a current of air drawn in from outside, or by circulating water. The stream of water or air supplied by the piping 16 is due to the cone 20 placed above the tank 2. This cone is pierced with small orifices 21 dividing the water into fine droplets which flow uniformly along the reservoir, its tubular organs and its cells.
The condensation water and that assigned to the defrosting are collected in the duct forming a drip tray 11 and conducted by a flow 14 outside the cold room without the humidity contained or the water introduced into the device being able to saturate the air. from the cold room.
When the refrigerant elements are about to defrost, the thermostat releases the contact which stops the engine.
The device allows the advantageous refrigeration of living quarters and public places, by employing the stream of fresh water which will pass through the tank and sufficiently cool the air passing through the interior of the device.
