<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Improvements in the construction of doors.
The present invention relates to improvements made to the construction of doors formed from a lattice of wood or another similar material placed between two layers of so-called triplex wood.
Its purpose is to increase the strength of doors of this type and more especially of the connection between the sides perpendicular to each other of the frame.
With a view to achieving this aim, the door, object of the invention, is characterized essentially in that the trellis is constituted by slats which extend along the width of the door and slats which are arranged obliquely in two directions so as to determine the formation of hexagons.
In practice, the connection of two sides of the frame placed at right angles is effected by a pin which is covered beforehand with glue which is provided along the longitudinal axis and at the ends on the opposite faces with notches into which are introduced. wedges which, upon joining the sides of the frame, produce clamping of the spindle in these sizes and application of the faces thereof against the faces of bores formed in each of the sides.

The accompanying drawings show by way of example an embodiment of a door according to the invention.
Figure 1 is an elevational view and Figure 2 a section through the line II-II showing the trellis established in accordance with the invention,
Figure 3 is a detail view.
Figures 4,5,6 are views intended to show the connection between the sides of the frame:
As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the door, object of the invention, comprises in a frame 1, between two layers of triplex wood, a number of slats 2 which preferably extend along the width of the door and which are spaced apart from each other to form equal rectangles.
Then, after having notched the slats 2, halfway through the wood, the slats 3 are placed obliquely, in one direction and: the slats 4 in another direction so as to determine the formation of hexagons 5 and triangles 6.
For the formation of the frame, two sides 7 and 8, to be arranged at right angles, are provided with rectangular bores as indicated at 9 and 10. On the other hand, use is made of a pin 11 which is handles at one of its ends on one of its faces a notch 12, along the longitudinal axis: the spindle and at the other end, also along the longitudinal axis but on the other face, 3 'a notch 13, Into each of these notches are introduced wedges 14 and 15.
During: the formation of the frame, a pin 11 covered with glue is introduced into the bore 10, and in the bore 13 has been previously engaged the end of a wedge 15 which clamps in this bore and there introduced by producing an application of the two lateral faces of the pin against the faces of the bore 10, when this pin is driven into the bore 10 on the side 8.
In the notch 12 is also introduced a wedge 14 and the side 7 is placed as iniicated in Figure 6 so that
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
that the bottom of the bore 9 comes into contact with the underside of the wedge. By a pressure exerted in the direction of the arrow F, the wedge 14 is introduced gradually into the notch 12 so as to produce a clamping of the pin 11 against the faces of the opening 9, while the sides 7 and 8 getting closer. When these two sides have come into contact, the two corners 14 and 15 are tightened completely in these notches and thanks to the glue which soaks the pin 11, any separation of the sides 7 and 8 is made impossible.
As will be appreciated, in the system described, thanks to the way of arranging the slats, it suffices to notch them halfway through the wood where they meet, which constitutes an advantage over screw systems in which the slats form triangles and in which these must be notched two-thirds where three slats meet, which is a cause of weakness.
In addition, the system of joining the sides of the frame ensures complete securing of these elements by preventing any separation of them.
