Jeu d'adresse.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
successifs.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Skill game.
The present invention relates to an address game intended more particularly for public places: cafes, meeting rooms, hotel lobbies, etc.
Essentially, this game has an inclined rectilinear track on which the player throws a ball; this track ends at a higher level in a circular area, also inclined, along the edge of which the ball rolls to detach itself from it at a place depending on the throwing force, and then end at one of the goals of the game, each of which corresponds to a determined point. According to the invention, the ball arriving at a goal falls into a channel which returns it directly to the reserve if the goal corresponds to the zero point, or first passes it over one or more successive contacts (electrical or mechanical) if the goal corresponds to a point other than zero.
Each contact is directly connected to an automatic token-dispensing mechanism, or it is linked to this mechanism only by the intermediary of a totalizer only activating the distribution of tokens from a determined total obtained. by a maximum of blows
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
successive. In the case of a totalizer, this is provided with a reset device activated by the introduction of a coin into the apparatus, this coin also triggering a mechanism. delivery of a number of balls.
The invention further comprises various embodiment characteristics which will become apparent from the description below given with reference to the accompanying drawing by way of example, and in which: FIG. 1 is a plan view of the upper part of the set .
Fig. 2 is a similar plan view with the track removed.
Fig.3 is an elevational view of the totalizer mechanism along arrow A in Fig.2.
Fig. 4 is an elevational view of the totalizer mechanism along arrow B of FIG. 2.
Fig. 5 is an elevational view of the mechanism operated by the coin.
The game consists of an elongated box, the upper face of which is lined over its greater part with a transparent glass. In the direction of the height, the box is divided into two compartments, the lower compartment, visible in figs. 2 to 5, containing the mechanisms, and the upper compartment containing the track and the goals. The partition wall 1 is inclined, so that the ball starts from the lowest point to rise, rolling on the straight track, towards the circular track. The rectilinear track 2 extends over one of the long sides of the box, and is bordered, on the one hand, by this side, and on the other hand, by a small vertical wall 3 integral with the wall 1.
It ends in the circular track 4 simply delimited by a vertical wall 5 carried by 1, which wall in fact forms a circle inscribed between the vertical sides of the box, the said circle being open at the location of the rectilinear track, where it has a part 6 more
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
small diameter returning to the center of the circular track.
In this circular track, are formed various goals 7 of different value; for example, that of the center 7 'will be of the greatest value, then the goals s 72 and 73 will successively come, the others being for example all of the same value. The skill therefore consists in throwing the ball, from point C, towards the circular track, so as to send it towards the goals of greater value. We notice that, to reach the goal of the center, it is necessary, either that the ball rolls slowly along the wall 6, or that it makes all the turn of the complete circular wall. A small projection 8 may be provided at the wall 6 to make it even more difficult to launch directly into the central goal.
It should be noted that once the ball has passed the 7 "goal, it descends by itself along the circular wall; the latter at its lowest point is interrupted towards the 74 goal corresponding to the The edge 9 is slightly lower, so that the ball, thrown with enough force, can pass beyond the goal 74, towards the goals 7.
The vertical walls 01, rectilinear part and rounded part, are intended to prevent the ball from accidentally getting stuck in the lower part of the wall ¯5. when it falls for example directly from plane 8, thus forming any ball not received in one of the goals 7-7'-7 "to end at the goal 74.
Each goal is formed by a small rounded cup, at the location of which the wall 1 is pierced with a hole 11 through which the ball passes to the lower compartment of the game.
In order to prevent any ball blocking, the wall 1 can be provided with small diamond points 12 at certain edges of the goals.
The lower compartment, under the tracks, is itself tilted. Each hole 11 communicates with a channel for returning the balls to a reserve store, the channels being so arranged that they successively open into one another, the channel 13
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
correspond to the goal 7 'arriving in the channel 14 of the goals 72 and 73, which ends in the general channel 15 of the goals 7, the channel 15 opening itself into the channel 16 of the goal 74 which arrives at the reserve channel 17. A the output of each of the channels 13-14-15 is mounted a contact 18 (electrical, mechanical or other) moved by the ball exiting the channel. Thus, a ball arriving at the central goal 71 successively operates the three contacts.
In the example shown of an electrical game, each contact comprises a small pallet 19 carried by an axis 20, which, while rotating, plunges its curved end into a mercury cup 21 and closes an electrical circuit.
In the simplest form of the game, each of the contacts is connected to the circuit of an electromagnet 22 (fig. 2) which attracts the tail of a pivoting hammer 23 whose head strikes on a chip 24 which she pulls out of the device. The tokens are housed in suitably placed inclined or vertical tubes.
It is obvious that the construction of the token dispenser can be of any known type, the invention essentially residing in the combination of such a device with the double track and the aims as described.
In the example shown, the connection between contacts 18 and the token dispensing mechanism is not direct, as will be explained below, this depending only on whether it is desired to distribute a token for each point or only to from a determined total of points.
The balls can be thrown by hand on track 2 but preferably, to make it possible to make the apparatus entirely closed, and to prevent any fraud, the throwing is done in a special way, entirely new to the knowledge of the inventor. The balls are brought one by one as will be described, at the bottom of track 2, in front of a pallet or spoon 30 mounted transversely to this track (the apparatus being.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
completely closed). This spoon passes through a long slot made in the vertical wall of the game, and is carried by a slider 31 capable of sliding without resistance along an outer bar 32 fixed to the device.
The player therefore throws the ball - without touching it - by means of this cursor, which he maneuvers along the bar 32; this avoids any loss of ball and any fraud.
It should be noted that this launching mechanism could be combined with a small opening (not shown) made in the glass which covers the apparatus, and through which the balls would be inserted by hand one by one into the bottom of the pi ste 2. The inventor prefers, however, to make the apparatus automatic and to provide a prepayment mechanism for feeding the balls into track 2.
For this purpose, the reserve channel 17 of the balls is divided along its length into two halves, each of which can contain the number of balls 42 (for example seven) to be delivered each time a coin is inserted into the slot 26 ( These two compartments are separated by a vertical partition 27 carried by the end of a strip 28 forming a movable part of an electro 29.
On the other hand, the slot 26 corresponds with a small bucket 33 (fig.5) of a vertical rotating disc 34 that a counterweight 35 normally brings back into the position of the figure. When a coin is introduced at 26, it is received by the bucket 33, and thus causes the disc 34 to rotate through a certain angle at which the coin falls out of the bucket and allows the counterweight 35 to return the disc to its proper position. starting position. The disc carries on the other hand on its axis a small cam 37 which, during the rotation, causes the tilting of a long rod 38 pivoted at 39 and provided with a counterweight of rap - pel 40 The free end of this rod forms a contact for a mercury cup 41, this mercury contact being interposed in the supply circuit of the electro 29.
Disc 34 is
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
braked so that the duration of the contact, therefore of the closing of the circuit of 29 corresponds exactly to the time necessary for the opening of the partition 27 and for the passage of the 7 balls from one compartment of channel 17 to another (channel 17 being tilted).
At its lowest part, the channel 17 is open so that the first ball falls into the cup 43 which ends a lever 44 pivoting at 45 and extended out of the apparatus by an operating button 46. The cup 43 has its bottom inclined from left to right (fig. 2) so that, when it is lifted (by pivoting the lever 44) until this bottom emerges outside a window 47 made in the wall 1, the bottom ball rolls on its own towards track 2 (fig.l). During this pivoting movement of the lever 44, the balls 42 are retained in the channel 17 by the very end of the lever.
The player, having introduced his coin, therefore releases the seven balls that he can however bring one by one into track 2, which forces him to throw the balls one by one.
To prevent a ball from being brought behind the spoon 30, thus forcing the player to return the spoon to the lower dead center to release a ball, a pivoting lock 50 is provided, one branch of which extends above. of the lever 44, and the other in the bottom of the track 2. In the position of figure 1, this lock blocks the lever 44; by lowering the slider 31, the spoon will pivot the latch clockwise, which will release the lever 44, a spring 51 automatically returning the latch to the locked position as soon as the slider 31 is moved.
In the example shown (fig. 2 to 4) each game being played with seven balls, the player only receives a token from a total number of points fixed on the same game, the second token for a number of points higher, the third for an even greater total, and so on. In this case, we combine with the apparatus described a tota -

Liser which, in the example, comprises a horizontal axis 52 on which are successively wedged the small pinion 53, the drum 54, the two ratchet wheels 55 and 56 and the disc. 21 ..
The teeth of the two wheels 55 and 56 are placed in opposite directions.
58 denotes the coils of an electro whose circuit is controlled by the various contacts 18; the movable part 59 of the electro is pivoted at one end, and its other end is connected to a rod 60 itself articulated to a lever arm 61 carried by the rotary axis 62 The free end of the lever 61 is connected to a connecting rod 63 leading to a small lever 64, pivoting at 65¯. which carries at its free end an erasing pawl 66 The current being launched in the electro, the part 59 is attracted and, moving the connecting rod 63 in the direction of the arrow fig.3, forces the pawl 66 to take in the teeth of the ratchet 55 and to rotate the latter in the counterclockwise direction.
On the other hand, the axis 62 carries an arm 67 articulated to a rod 68 which, in this movement of the part 59, is moved towards the ratchet 56 and also engages in the teeth of the latter, to limit the stroke of the ratchet 55 to exactly one tooth. The current being cut, after advancement of a tooth, the members 66 and 68 are released simultaneously from the two rocks 55 and 56.
During the advancement of the ratchets, the small pinion 53, in engagement with the toothed sector 70, rotates the latter, around its pivot 71, in the clockwise direction; in this pivoting, the sector tightens a return spring 2. The deflection of the pinions 55 -56 and of the sector 70 under the action of the spring 72 is normally stopped by a pawl 73, engaged with the teeth of the ratchet 55, and carried by an elastic blade 74 which constitutes a movable part of the ratchet. electro 75. The circuit of this electro is controlled by the mercury switch 38-41 (fig.5) so that, when inserting a coin into the appliance, the pawl 73 is released and allows the spring 72 to act
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
to bring the totalizing mechanism back to the initial point, therefore to zero.
The drum 54 carries on its rim, a graduated numbering, visible through a window 76 of the wall 1, which allows the player to check the total of the points that he forms.
The disc 57 carries a projecting arm 77 which, during the rotation of the disc, presses on a long pivoting lever 78 - the free end of which plunges into a mercury bucket? 9 to close the control circuit of the electro 22 distributing the first token. With this distributor, is combined a second identical 22 '-23' whose circuit is controlled by a mercury contact 78 '79' the lever 78 'being pivoted by successive projections 80 of the disc 59 The example represents three stops 80, which corresponds to the ejection of a first token from the distributor 22-23 and three tokens from the distributor 22 '-23'. The levers 78-78 'are pivoted at 81 and brought back by counterweight 82 or springs
As shown in fig. 4,
the stops 77 and 80 do not directly attack the levers 78-78 'the latter carry projecting beaks83 pivoting in one direction to be erased during the bend of the disc 57 on resetting.
CLAIMS.
1. Board game in which a ball is thrown on a track inclined towards one of the goals carried by this track, characterized in that the track is formed of a recti track - throwing line, resulting in a circular track whose wall is open, at the lowest point, towards a goal corresponding to the zero point, the other goals being distributed within the circular surface so as to require that the ball leaves the circular edge to reach one of the other goals than zero.
