<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Siphoidal box for sanitary installation.
The present invention relates to a siphoidal box for a sanitary installation, in which the siphon which imposes on the liquid circulating therein a wavy path in vertical planes is formed by the surfaces of separable parts, one of which is fixed to the ground. and the other of which, removable, has the shape of a bell whose opening faces upwards.
This box is characterized in that the lower wall of said removable part is shaped so
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
@ to complete, at least in general outline, the interior part of that of the characteristic elbows of a siphon duct which has its convexity turned downwards, and so as to provide a communication channel between the interior of the bell and said conduit, a path which opens into it at an acute angle, that is to say via the lips forming a nozzle, directed in a direction forming an acute angle with the tangential speed of the liquid.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention and a variant
Figure 1 is an elevation and sectional view thereof and Figure 2 a side elevation.
Figure 3 is a plan view, Figure 4 is a section along A-B of Figure 2 and Figure 5 a section on C-D of Figure 3.
Figure 6 shows in perspective one of the parts of the box and Figure 7 shows in vertical section a variant.
In Figures 4, 5 and 7, the box is shown without its floor grid.
In all the figures, 1 designates a siphon pipe, the orifice 2 of which connects to the reservoir to be emptied and the orifice 3 a downward priming pipe. 4 is a cylindrical casing of larger diameter than duct 1 and assembled with it as shown in the sectional figures. 11 is a flat ring integral with 4 and used for mounting. 5 is a removable floor grid; 6 is a bell, having at its upper part an annular rim 7 which comes to rest by means of an elastic washer, inside the box 4.
At its lower part this bell is such that if
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
it had originally been shaped into a hemisphere and this hemisphere was then deformed as if by penetration of the interior of a toroidal surface such as that formed by the bend of a siphon. The bell 6 therefore constitutes a removable part intended to complete the shape of the siphon duct as it would have been cut so that the envelope 4 can penetrate and be connected to its walls, forming only one and the same container. with him.
In order to thus complete, in general outline, the toroidal surface of the siphon-shaped duct, the bell 6 has two walls 8 and 9 suitably shaped for this purpose and furthermore allowing a communication path 10 to be provided. between the interior of the bell 6 and the duct 1. It can be seen that this communication path opens into this duct at an acute angle, that is to say that the directrix of the movement determined by the lips of the orifice for a liquid passing from the interior of the bell into the duct forms an acute angle with the tangent which would be conducted by the edge of the wall 8. The opening 10 is suitably adjusted and small enough not to interfere with the suction of the siphon. Note that the wall 8 is shaped so as to produce an enlargement of the siphon from the opening 10.
The operation of the device is as follows:
The water arrives at 2 from a tank located higher than the elbow 3. It therefore fills the siphon by itself and fills the tube 3. When it has descended to a level below that of the base of the box, the siphon is primed and produces a suction which is all the stronger as the tube 3 descends lower than this level. Before the siphon is
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
primed, a little water can be introduced into the bell 6; as the siphon starts up shortly after tube 3 is filled, the water contained in the bell sucks up
6 to a very low level. The lowest altitude of the tube
3 is adjusted so that the water contained in the bell 6 can be completely sucked in so that there is a change of this water.
When the flow rate of the tank to be emptied is no longer sufficient to keep tube 3 filled, priming ceases and tube 3 empties naturally along the slope, and the rest of the water in the tank to be emptied flows slowly up to the level of the lower wall of tube 3 at most. It then fills the bell up to this same level; a new quantity of water will remain until the next priming of the siphon.
The advantages of this siphoidal box lie in a precise orientation of the communication path between the bell and the duct and giving rise to the above-described effects.
It is obvious that the section of the duct could be of any shape, square for example, in which case the bottom of the bell could also have flat or cylindrical walls. It is also understood that the bottom of the casing 4 and of the bell 6 could also be plane instead of being hemispherical or that it could have any other shape.
The box can be made of any material but will preferably be made of lead or one of its alloys.
The shape shown preferably applies to wall-mounted bathtubs. For ordinary free-standing baths, the 2-siphon duct would be extended to the upper level of the box in order to directly receive the tubular end of the tub.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The rubber 12 / which prevents the passage of the air coming from the tube 3 is eliminated when the wall of the casing 4 is made to accompany that of the bell low enough to be immersed in the liquid filling the bottom of the chamber. siphon.
