<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
collier 24.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

In the tractor according to the invention (figs.l to 2), the cylinders 1, in one piece, are two in number, horizontal and located in the front part of the machine; the two heads 2 of the cylinders are independent of one another and placed below the radiator 3. The engine is of the two-stroke type; the air is sucked from the casing 4 through the automatic multi-blade valves 5 6. The ignition of the compressed mixture is obtained by introducing into the head of the cylinders the cigarettes enclosed in the cases 7. Behind the cylinders is mounted the gearshift 8, of which the housing 9 also contains the differential 10.
The movement of the motor shaft 11 is transmitted by the torque of gears 12-13 to the first shaft 14 of the speed change; pairs of gears 15 at different ratios transmit it from the second to the third shaft 16; a pair of cylindrical gears 17 transmits the rotation of the shaft 16 to a third shaft 18 on which is wedged a pinion 19 which, meshing with the ring gear 20 of the differential 10, controls the two driving wheels 21 of the tractor. A special device is provided for reverse gear. The transmission of the movement of the motor shaft 11 to the first shaft 14 of the gearshift is established or interrupted at will by means of a dry friction, with ferrode discs 22-23, controlled by the lever with
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
necklace 24.
On the right-hand end of the motor shaft 11 are wedged the eccentrics 25 controlling the fuel pump; this discharges the compressed oil into the sprayer 26 which projects it into the cylinder in the form of a mist.
The engine is started using compressed air and, more precisely, by means of a device which, when the engine is started, allows the compressed air, enclosed in a tank placed on the engine, to flow into the engine. the heads of the cylinders during the explosion phases and to alternately push the pistons 27 to make them complete the full stroke and make the engine run.
To fill the compressed air tank, the two valves 28 are operated which allow part of the compressed air in the cylinders 1 to flow into the said tank through a pipe provided for this purpose and to create the pressure therein. requested.
When the tank is completely empty or the pressure, following leaks, is no longer sufficient to start up, an auxiliary pump 29 (fig. 2), operated by hand, is used to provide sufficient initial pressure. for the purpose in sight.
The engine housing, together with the housing housing the gearshift and the differential, constitute the tractor frame, the front axle 30 of which is attached to a fork 31 attached in turn to the front part of the cylinder block. .
A shaft 32, which can be actuated at will by the gear change wheel, carries a pulley 33 which can serve as a driving pulley for controlling agricultural or other machinery.
The steering 34-35 is attached to the gearshift block, and the steering wheel 36 is conveniently placed within easy reach of the worker, as well as the control lever for the gearshift.
Referring to figs. 7 and 8, the cold head 2 of the cylinder is of the normal type cooled by circulating water and is
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
fixed to the prisoners of the cylinders by means of the holes 1a.
2a is the anteroom into which the combustible oil injected by the sprayer enters, the latter being applied to the orifice 3a.
The opening 4a serves to introduce and secure the case carrying the cigarettes for cold engine starting.
The antechamber 2a has a characteristic semi-hyperbolic shape ensuring better disintegration of the oil.
In addition, its face looking at the cylinder has the shape of a spherical segment 5a, the cavity of which looks at the cylinder.
This feature allows the most favorable, gradual and complete combustion of the injected oil.
The monoblock according to the invention is distinguished by the fact that practically the entire surface of the cylinders constituting the internal wall of the water jacket is traversed in the direction of the rear end towards the front end of the monoblock by cooling water coming down from the radiator; the water that comes out of the cylinder heads after heating, passes through an outlet manifold which is not in direct contact with the cylinder walls, and is then sent to the radiator. Referring to Figs. 5 to 8, the monobloc com - carries two cylinders 1 and has an outer jacket lb.
The upper openings 3b-3b serve to connect the various elements of the radiator 3 to the engine; the water cooled by the radiating mass of the radiator is therefore forced to descend into the collector 4b.
A centrifugal pump shown in dotted lines in the drawing sucks the water from the manifold 4b and delivers it through the opening 6b into the gap existing between the jacket lb and the cylinders 1. Since the opening 6b is located between the two cylinders and above them, the water descends and uniformly envelops the surfaces of the cylinders and then flows towards the front part of the monobloc, that is to say towards the outlet. , after entering the lower cavity of the cylinder heads in
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
passing through the openings 7b-7b, the water leaves through the upper openings 8b-8b and enters the monobloc, namely the collector 9b. The outlet 10b of the manifold 9b is located on the center line thereof, at the top.
The walls of the collector are not in direct contact with the walls of the cylinders, hence the great advantage that the cylinders are isolated from the hottest part of the refrigeration water. A pipe, in the specific case shown in the drawing, the upright 50 which supports the fan in fig.1, brings hot water to the upper part of the radiator. This water, cooled by the radiating mass, descends along the elements of the radiator and passes into the collector 4b and the cycle already described is repeated.
The monoblock in question has a special feature forming part of the invention: in order to increase the strength and rigidity of the coupling of the two cylinders united in a monoblock, a rib 11 made of cast iron has been provided. and having a triangular shape; vertex 12b of the triangle coincides with the longitudinal central rib of the monoblock, and the base 13b of the triangle coincides with the outer jacket located below the monoblock. This construction considerably reinforces the whole of the monoblock and especially its lower part where the fork supporting the axle of the rear wheels is applied.
The fuel pump is of a characteristic design.
It is of the piston type and is distinguished, among other things, by the fact that on the same intermediate part which controls the pump piston, a lever pivots, the free end of which rests on a cam; said lever functions as a control rod.
Referring to figs. 9 to 11, the pump piston lc, in its discharge phase, is controlled by the eccentric 25 (wedged on the motor shaft or on the distribution shaft) through the intermediate piece 3c.
The suction phase of said piston, that is to say its stroke
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
return, as well as the adhesion of the intermediate piece to the eccentric 25, are produced by the spring 4c; the stroke of the piston 1c is therefore constant.
The control device for measuring the quantity of oil supplied to the engine in proportion to the work that the engine is called upon to perform, comprises a rod 5c sliding in the sleeve 6c and controlled - with the intervention of the intermediate part 7c - by the pivoting lever 8c at 9c on the intermediate piece 3c.
The free end of the lever 8c presses on a cam 10c wedged on a rotating shaft.
The rod 5c is kept adherent to the lever 8c by the spring 11c. Above the rod 5c is mounted a valve 12c, which a spring placed above it pushes against its seat.
The rod 5c, in its longitudinal sliding movement, strikes with its upper end the rod of the valve 12c and lifts this valve from its seat.
On the shaft 13c parallel to the shaft on which the eccentric 25 is wedged, the cone 14c can slide. The lever 15c, to which the arm 16c is fixed, is integral with the cam 10c; the roller 17c with which the arm 16c is provided presses on the conical surface of the cone 14c.
The automatic engine governor acts on the cone 14c and forces it to move along the shaft 13c; this cone therefore raises and lowers the arm 16c which adheres to it, and thereby causes the cam 10c to rotate around its pivot by an angle equal to the angular displacement of said arm with which the cam 10c is integral.
By manually operating the button 18c which controls the group: worm 19c and helical wheel 20, the angle formed by the cam 10c with the arm 16c can be varied at will and thus adjust the phase of the action of the regulator on the control unit.
The operation is as follows:
During the suction phase of the piston le, during which the valve 12c is open, the fuel oil coming from the
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
reservoir enters chamber 21c, passes into chamber 22c, leaves it through valve 12c and is brought through channel 23c into chamber 24c in front of the piston; oil completely fills this chamber. At the end of the suction phase, the rod 5c, due to the subsequent lowering of the eccentric 23 and the lever 8c, leaves the rod of the valve 12c and the latter closes. Successively, the eccentric 25, in its upward stroke, lifts the intermediate part 3c which in turn pushes the pis - ton le.
Consequently, the oil contained in the chamber 24c is forced out by the piston 1c and forced to exit under pressure through the sprayer attached to the cylinder head of the engine.
However, at a certain point in the stroke of the piston lc, the lever 8c (which, being integral with the intermediate part 3c, also lifts under the action of the eccentric 25) acts on the intermediate part 7c and pushes the rod 5c which, in turn, opens the valve 12c. Then the oil which is still in the chamber 24c (the passage through the valve 12c being open) instead of going to the sprayer, goes to the fuel tank through 23c-22c-21c; this continues until the end of the upstroke of piston lc. When the piston begins its downward stroke or suction stroke, the phases already described are repeated.
The automatic governor, by sliding the cone 14c along its axis, moves the arm 16c, the roller 17c of which rests on the conical surface of 14c, and forces the cam 10c to rotate through a certain angle on its pivot and thereby lifting the free end of lever 8c. The lifting of this lever has the effect of causing the stroke of the rod 5c and the opening of the valve 12c to be anticipated and, consequently, to reduce the useful effect of the piston lc in its discharge phase and to reduce the quantity of pressurized fuel injected into the cylinder through the sprayer.
The point in the stroke of the piston lc to which the opening of the valve 12c corresponds is set to
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
the hand by means of the button 18c which varies the angle formed by the cam 10c with the arm 16c,
Of course, the details of execution may vary in practice without departing from the scope of the invention.
