<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
1 est simple- ment posé sur une rondelle 4 de dimensions correspondantes au doamètre du moule utilisé, cette rondelle est encastrée dans une rainure circulaire que possède la plaque inférieure de l'embase 1 et elle est percée de quelques trous équidistantes pour recevoir des goujons que l'on fait traverser des trous appar- tenant à la rondelle extérieure inférieure 6' du moule 6 (fig.1) ce qui permet de centrer approximativement le bas dudit moule par rapport au noyau 19 de modèle connu qni est fixé à l'extré- mité inférieure d'un arbre 18. Le haut de cc même moule est centré au moyen d'une table 5 de damètre extérieur approprié pour se loger entre la tranche des nervures 2' des pieds 2 ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
construction.
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Advanced machine for making cement pipes.
The invention relates to a machine for manufacturing the pipes: made of cement of the known type comprising a hub rotating in a fixed hollow mold and provided with one or more projections laterally pressing the material to form the pipe, the reaction of these helical projections raising at the same time the said core inside the mold,
The main feature of the machine according to the invention resides in that the shaft carrying the core is free to oscillate because this shaft is articulated by its upper extremity so that the core carried by
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
, the other end centers itself on the lower part of the mold at all times of its ascent and without ever exerting even a minimal force on its shaft.
The appended drawing represents an embodiment of the machine according to the invention:
Fig. 1 is a vertical section through the axis.
Fig. 2 shows, seen in perspective, a device of the articulated head of the core-holder shaft.
Fig. 3 to 6 show a simplified variant of the device fig. 2 of the articulated head.
The frame 8 of the machine is supported by a base which comprises a circular base 1 connected to an upper disc 3 by two wide risers or feet 2 comprising rib 2 '.
This base therefore has two large openings in opposition which allow easy handling of each mold before and after its filling and pounding with cement,
Unlike the arrangement used in known machines to fix the mold at each operation, in the machine according to the invention the mold shown in 6 FIG.
1 is simply placed on a washer 4 of dimensions corresponding to the range of the mold used, this washer is embedded in a circular groove that has the lower plate of the base 1 and it is drilled with a few equidistant holes to receive the studs that holes belonging to the lower outer washer 6 'of the mold 6 (fig. 1) are passed through, which makes it possible to approximately center the bottom of said mold with respect to the core 19 of known model which is fixed at the end - lower rim of a tree 18. The top of this same mold is centered by means of a table 5 of external gauge suitable for fitting between the edge of the ribs 2 'of the feet 2;
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
, this table is cut with a circular central opening of diameter equal to that of the mold used in order to be able to fit on the upper edge as seen in fig. 1.
The lower end of each mold is internally provided with the usual ring 7, the internal diameter of which is equivalent to the external diameter of the corresponding core 19, which comprises one or more helical projections. 20.
The frame 8 comprises a rotating central hollow column 9, the base of which rests on a ball bearing 10 and the top tpurne in a bearing provided in the head of the frame 8. This column 9 is internally provided with longitudinal grooves in any number. four, for example, as shown in fig 1 at 14. In these grooves, the cross section of which is generally rectangular, play four shoes 15 of parALLelipedic shape which are mounted idly on fixed journals 16 belonging to the head 17 terminating the upper end of the 'shaft 18 of the core 19. These journals are arranged in a cross (Fig. 2).
Between the outer face of each shoe 15 and the bottom of the corresponding groove 14, the construction is left with a play largely sufficient to allow a certain oscillation of the shaft 18 around the common axis of the column 9 and of the slider. the 6.
As shown in fig. 2 the head 17 of the shaft 18 is provided with a bracket 21 which is free to turn on it but retained vertically (by means of a screw with a head 25 for example). To this bracket 21 is attached a cable 22 which rises in the axis of the column 5 to pass over two return pulleys 23 and come to support a counterweight 24 (fig. 1).
The operation of the machine is easy to understand: The counterweight 24 is determined according to the weight
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
of the shaft 18 and of the core model 19 which is fixed and chosen according to the mold model to be used.
The balancing is calculated so that the weight of the shaft and the core prevails in order to ensure the constant contact of the core with the cement and the smoothness of the latter during the simultaneous rise of the core and its rotation *
To allow the installation of the empty mold, the counterweight is lowered and the core with its shaft raised, When the mold has been placed and centered as indicated above, the counterweight is raised so that the core descends to full stroke (position drawn freeze 1) SOUNDS that it is compulsory that the certtxe of the core 19 coincides with the axis of the shaft 18. In fig.
1 we show in a dotted line the oblique position that the tree can take,
The cement is then poured little by little into the mold and the control shaft 13 is started. Column 9 drives in its rotation the shaft 18 by its shoes 15 and also the core 19. The helical projections 20 smooth the cement by compressing it and simultaneously force the core to rise while the counterweight descends accordingly. In its ascent, the core does not impose any bending on the shaft 18, even if the mold 6 is offset.
When the pipe is finished, the core cn is released, lowering the counterweight to the bottom and the mold containing the pipe is removed, then another empty mold is placed and the operation is repeated.
The alternative arrangement of the articulated head of the core-holder shaft, which is represented by FIGS. 3 to 6 inclusive * gives the same result as that obtained with the device seen in detail in FIG. 2, but it has the advantage of being easier to
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
construction.
In this variant, the hollow column 9 comprises only two diametrically opposed grooves 14 ′; the four guide shoes are kept, but their arrangement is changed in that they are arranged in two superimposed pairs and that the support and journaling axes of the shoes of a shepherd, are as in the device freezes 1 and 2 , perpendicular to the axes of the hooves of the other shepherd.
The 17 'head constituting the upper end of the shaft
18 is now provided with two lateral arms 25 located at the upper part and below which are arranged two yokes, also lateral 26. The arms 25 are each extended by a trunnion pin 27 on which is mounted a cylindrical shoe 28 of diameter equivalent to the width of the corresponding groove 14 '.
The yokes 26 are each crossed by a trunnion axis which
29 on / off a cylindrical shoe 30 placed between the branches of the yoke.
The lower shoes 30 are in constant contact by their periphery with the bottom of the grooves 14 'while the upper shoes 28, whose faces are parallel with the said bottom of the grooves, have their outer face at a small distance from this bottom in view. to leave a clearance 31 (fig. 3) between these shoes
28 and the bottom of the groove, with the aim already explained, of allowing a certain oscillation of the shaft 18.
The shoes 28 and their axis 27 being perpendicular to the shoes 30 and axes 29, as shown clearly in the figures
3 to 6. oh understand that the operation of the machine provided with the variant described, is absolutely similar to that explained - above. When the oscillation of the shaft 18 is around the
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
axes 29., the articulation is produced by the support of one or the other of the shoes 30 against the bottom of the corresponding groove dante (for example by that of the left fig. 3) and the shaft as well as its head and sabotq 29 take a slightly oblique position, as shown by the line in dotted lines fig. 3.
On the contrary, when the oscillation is in a direction perpendicular to that in fig. 3, the articulation occurs by the rotation of the pins 27 in the shoes 28 retained in the grooves 14 '. this results in a slight inclination of the shaft 18 and of its head 17 as well as of the shoes 29 as shown in the potted lines in fig. 5.
In this variant, guide shoes of cylindrical shape have been indicated, but they could just as well be of parallelepedal shape as was specified for the device in fig. 2, or any other suitable form
The construction details may of course vary without the invention being modified thereby.
