Exemple I.

EMI1.1
"A process for the manufacture of en7r, rais ar l 'Q ("; Ó, J "' r '] acid salts of potassium with insoluble phosphates."
It is known that in order to solubilize natural lime phosphates, sulfuric acid is used in a relatively concentrated degree. By this means we obtain an en-rais, superphosphate, which contains only one fertilizing principle. This operation, however simple it may appear, is not without certain drawbacks, particularly from an economic point of view.
It has been found that by using certain acid salts of potassium under certain conditions, it is possible to solubilize the phosphates with an excellent yield while simultaneously obtaining mixed or complete fertilizers. If, for example, a limited amount of water is added to a finely ground mixture of potassium bisulphate and natural lime phosphate, a paste is formed which makes fast.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
duly taken thanks to the lime sulphate produced; the already considerable solubilization after a few hours is practically complete 2 or 3 days later. This process is a successful use of bisulfate, an important by-product of the potassium salt industry.
It is moreover susceptible to variations by the fact that instead of using water alone it is possible to use solutions of substances which themselves have a fertilizing value and thus in the case of of nitrogenous substances then obtain complete fertilizers. Another advantage of these products is that they are easy to extract by water to separate the lime sulphate, which allows the manufacture of concentrated fertilizers.
Example I.
100 Kgs of potassium bisulphate are ground with 50 Kgs of natural lime phosphate, so that the mixture passes entirely through a 100 mesh sieve per cm2 The mass is then added with 30 Kgs of water while stirring slowly and the product wet left at rest, avoiding too rapid desiccation. The fertilizer thus prepared contains 10% to 11% of P205 (of which after 2 days more than 94% in water-soluble form) and 20% to 21% of K20.
Example 11.
100 kg of potash bisulphate are ground with 50 kg of natural lime phosphate to the same degree of fineness as in example 1. The mixture is then kneaded with a solution of 30 kg of urea in 40 liters of water. , then left to stand for 2 - 3 days. The product obtained is a complete fertilizer containing 7-8% nitrogen, 16-17% potash and 8-9% phosphoric acid.
