Conformément à un aspect de la présente invention le procédé pour la fabrication d'engrais phospho-azotés comprend les étapes suivantes;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

According to one aspect of the present invention the process for the manufacture of phospho-nitrogenous fertilizers comprises the following steps;
the acidulation of a phosphate rock by sulfuric acid or phosphoric acid or by a mixture of these acids, so that in substance all the P2O5 present in the phosphate rock is transformed into mono- phosphate. calcium, the reaction of the product of said acidula% ion with a sufficient quantity of ammonium sulfate in aqueous solution,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
As a result, in substance all of the monocalcium phosphate is decomposed into calcium sulphate, the separation of the precipitated calcium sulphate from the reaction product and the removal of the residual reaction product.
The crushed phosphate rock can be acidified at a desired temperature range (the reaction is exothermic) in a stirred reaction vessel and the concentrated aqueous ammonium sulfate solution is added when the acidulation is complete. Calcium sulfate is precipitated as gypsum or hemidrate or anhydrite depending on the temperature interval. The precipitated calcium sulfate is separated from the reaction product preferably by filtration, and the filtrate, which is the residual product and which consists essentially of a hot aqueous solution of mono-ammonium phosphate, is separated to be transformed into a fertilizer. p @ os @ ho-nitrogen.
The precipitated calcium sulfate which is filtered off from the reaction product will contain some ammonium phosphorus and is preferably washed with water to separate and recover this soluble salt, the wash liquor being added to the salt. initial filtrate and the mixed solution is separated to be transformed into a phospho-nitrogen fertilizer.
Alternatively, the phosphate rock can be acidified to form a solid superphosphate using a conventional setup and the solid superphosphate is then reacted with a concentrated aqueous solution of emo-sulphate, cslciun sulphate. The precipitate is then separated by filtration and the filtrate is removed for treatment.
The present invention also includes the case where the solid superphosphate, which has been made by acidulation of phosphate rock with sulfuric acid or acid

phosphoric acid or a mixture of these scids, is supplied as a raw material.
Ammonia can be added to the product solution to convert all or part of the mono-ammonium phosphate to di-ammonium phosphate depending on the reaction:
NH4H2PO4 + NH3 - (NH4) 2HPO4 (5)
To obtain a NPK-type fertilizer, a potassium salt can be added to the product solution or else potassium hydroxide to completely or partially convert the mono-ammonium phosphate into diammonium phosphate and potassium acid phosphate depending on the reaction. :
2NH4H2POI4 + 2KOH - (NH4) 2HPO4 + K2HPO4 + 2H2O (6)
The initial or modified solution can be concentrated by evaporation and the hot concentrated solution is brought to a granulation plant or is pelletized to form a solid phospho-nitrogen fertilizer,
In those where ammonium sulfate can be obtained easily, for example ammonium sulfate obtained as a by-product of a caprolactam plant, the precipitated calcium sulfate which is separated from the reaction product can be considered. as a waste product,
In the case where ammonia and carbon dioxide can be readily supplied, for example from an ammonia synthesis plant, some or all of the precipitated calcium sulfate, which is separated from the reaction product ,
can be reacted with an aqueous solution of ammonia carbonates to form ammonium sulfate and calcium carbonata following the reaction

Calcium carbonate is precipitated and the solution contains some free ammonium carbonate since
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the reaction is reversible. The calcium carbonate is separated from the solution, preferably by filtration, and the solution is concentrated to form a concentrated solution of ammonium sulfate without substantial loss of free ammonia. This concentrated solution of ammonium sulphate is then used in the process according to the invention.
Thus, according to another aspect of the present invention, the process for the manufacture of phospho-aze- ted fertilizers comprises the following steps: acidulation of a phosphate rock with sulfuric acid or phosphorous acid - that or by a mixture of these acids, so that in substance all the P2O5 present in the phosphate rock is converted into monocalcium phosphate, the reaction of the product of said acidulation with a sufficient quantity of concentrated aqueous solution of sodium sulphate ammonium so that in substance all of the monocalcium phosphate is decomposed into calcium sulphate, the separation of the precipitated calcium sulphate from the reaction product, the removal of the residual reaction product,
reacting part or all of said separated calcium sulfate with an aqueous solution of carbonated ammonia to form precipitated calcium carbonate and ammonium sulfate in solution, separating the precipitated calcium carbonate from the ammonium sulphate solution and the concentration thereof to produce said amount of concentrated aqueous ammonium sulphate solution.
As emerges from equations (3) and (4) only in the case where the phosphoric acid is used alone for the acidulation of the phosphate rock all of the separated calcium sulfate will be reacted with an aqueous solution of the phosphate rock. carbonated ammonia.
The advantage of the present invention lies in the fact that a fertilizer with a high content of N and P2O5 constitutes
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
basically by ammonium phosphate is obtained with minimal consumption of sulfuric acid and / or phosphoric acid. In the case where sulfuric acid is used alone for the acidulation of phosphate rock, less sulfuric acid of up to 30% is needed than when the phosphate rock is decomposed with sulfuric acid to form orthophosphoric acid and then neutralized the separated phosphoric acid with ammonia to form ammonium phosphate.
In the embodiment of the process of the present invention where some or all of the precipitated calcium sulphate is converted to precipitated calcium carbonate, both of these products being considered as waste products requiring adequate commercial disposal. prayed, there is the further advantage that calcium carbonate is less difficult to dispose of than calcium sulfate and also that the weight of calcium carbonate is significantly less than the weight of an equivalent amount of sulfate calcium, whether in precipitated form, as gypsum, as hemihydrate or anhydrite.
The invention will be better understood by referring to the following examples.
Example 1
373.5 g of a crushed Nauru phosphate rock are acidified, 75% of the particles of which have a size of less than 200 mesh * (BSS) and with a composition of 38.0% by weight of P2O5, 51.47% CaO, 2, 53% F, 2.52% CO2, 0.94% Fe2O3, 1.80% SO4, 0.1% Na2O, 2.75% H2O, in a reaction vessel with 182 ml of sulfuric acid at 73% by weight /weight. The temperature is maintained at 70 C while stirring constantly.
When the acidulation reaction is complete, 140 g of ammonium sulfate dissolved in 210g are slowly added.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
of water to the contents of the reaction vessel and the resulting mixture is stirred for 2 hours *. A precipitate of calcium sulphate forms which is separated by filtration. This precipitate is washed with water and is then dried and analyzed.
This precipitate is identified as gypsum (CaSO4, 2H2O) containing the following: P2O5 content of the dried and washed precipitate - 1.4% w / w nitrogen content of the dried and washed precipitate - none
From the above it can be deduced that all of the NH3 is present in the filtrate and the liquor of @ and 94.6% by weight of the P2O5 content of the phosphate rock is present in the filtrate and the wash liquor.
Example 2 234 g of commercially available single superphosphate containing 19.8% w / w P2O5 are acidulated in a reaction vessel with 10 ml of 96% w / w sulfuric acid and 132 are added. g of ammonium sulphate diamonds in 900 ml of water. The temperature of the reaction mixture is maintained at 80 C while stirring constantly for five hours.
A precipitate of calcium sulphate forms which is separated by filtration. The precipitate is washed with water and is then dried and analyzed, The precipitate is identified as being eypsum (CaSO4,2H2O) containing the following: P2O5 content of the dried and washed precipitate - 1.5% w / w nitrogen content of the dried and washed precipitate
From the above it can be deduced that all the NH3 is present in the filtrate and the washing liquor and 94.4% by weight of the P2O5 content of the simple superphosphate is present in the filtrate and the Mqueur. washing.
