<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
ouvrier.

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
La figure 1 est une vue en élévation d'une machine établie conformément à l'invention;
La figure 2 est une vue en plan de la figure 1;
Les figures 3, 4 et 5 représentent res- peotivement des coupes partielles suivant les li- gnes 3-3, 4-4, 5-5 de la figure 2;
La figure 6 est une coupe partielle sui- vant la ligne 6-6 de la figure 4;
Les figures 7, 8 et 9 représentent diffé- rentes phases du nouveau procédé de rectification;
La figure 10 est une coupe à travers le dispositif d'extraction;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
Le cycle de travail estillustré sur les figures 7, 8 et 9, Pour indroduire la pièce à recti- fier dans la machine, on retire la meule de ré- glage 22 de la meule de travail C. La meule intérieu- re 46 est éloignée (en même temps que la meule de réglage) par rapport à la meule de travail;
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>
<Desc/Clms Page number 14>

'Grinding machine "
The present invention relates to a new process and a machine for finishing machined parts such as boots, this finishing being carried out by means of a single maneuver,
The great problem of the present industry is to obtain the greatest production by
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
worker. The limits of this production are mainly determined by the speed with which the worker can bring and remove the machined parts since the necessary maneuvers constitute, compared to the production of the machine, a waste of time.
When making hollow cylindrical objects, such as boxes, the inner and outer surfaces of which, for example, must be concentric with an accuracy of one hundredth of a millimeter, it is currently necessary to grind the inner surface and the outer surface on separate machines. This requires two maneuvers for the feeding and removal of the part to be ground and another maneuver for carrying said part from one machine to another.
The main purpose of the method and the machine, which are the objects of the present invention, is to overcome these drawbacks.
It is necessary to provide a machine organized so that it can work simultaneously or consecutively the internal and external surfaces, within certain limits of exactness.
EMI2.1
strength and concentricity
The machine must also work automatically so as to perform, on the part to be ground and in their logical order, the various operations desired, so that the worker can focus all his attention on inserting the part to be ground and on adjustments required by the machine in order to maintain exact dimensions of the finished product
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In the accompanying drawing is shown, schematically, an embodiment of the machine.
Figure 1 is an elevational view of a machine constructed in accordance with the invention;
Figure 2 is a plan view of Figure 1;
Figures 3, 4 and 5 show respectively partial sections taken along lines 3-3, 4-4, 5-5 of Figure 2;
Figure 6 is a partial section taken on line 6-6 of Figure 4;
Figures 7, 8 and 9 show different phases of the new rectification process;
Figure 10 is a section through the extraction device;
FIG. 11 partially represents the device for adjusting the grinding wheel for grinding internal surfaces,
Considered in its generality, the new process consists in freely supporting the part to be reotified, the box, etc., then in grinding the external and internal surfaces in order to reach the desired diameters, while adjusting the position relative to the grinding wheels. and the speed of rotation of the part to be ground
The method also aims to simultaneously or consecutively rectify the internal surface of the part to be ground while the latter is held freely and to use the auxiliary member determining the position and the rotation of the part to be ground during the external grinding,
as
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
auxiliary member, on the one hand, to support said part while the internal grinding is carried out and, on the other hand, to determine the thickness of the wall, the thickness resulting from the internal grinding.
On the frame A of a grinding machine without pointa, the support B which carries the rotating grinding wheel C. The latter is driven, in the usual manner and in the direction of clockwise, to the with the aid of a motor arranged in a D-shape such that, seen from the inside of the frame, its periphery moves downward and with a speed of about 1500 meters per minute.
The frame comprises guide grooves 15 for the carriage 16, the latter is provided, at one of its ends, with a support 17 comprising at its upper part a bar 18 bevelled and in contact with the periphery of the piece to be rectified 19 which it supports. The carriage further comprises a frame 20 in which is disposed the shaft 21 of the adjustment wheel 22. This shaft is inclined at a certain angle to the horizontal so that the adjustment wheel exerts a component on the workpiece. which makes it advance, which part to be rectified thus comes to rest on the stop 23 of the ejector 24 articulated on the support 17.
The frame 20 also carries the motor 240 which drives the adjusting grinding wheel 22, in a clockwise direction, by means of a helical gear 25 or an interlocking device.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
analogous mediary. In this way, the part of the adjusting grinding wheel which faces inward and grips the workpiece to be ground, moves upward with respect to the support 17 in order to grip the side of the workpiece to be ground, opposite to the side. worked by grinding wheel C. The adjusting grinding wheel rotates slowly, for example with a peripheral speed of 12 meters per second, and by a friction effect grips the part to be ground and regulates the rotation.
The machine works here in accordance with the so-called "introduction" process according to which the outer diameter of the workpiece to be ground is reduced by reducing the distance between the working and adjusting wheels, which distance is then increased again with a view to the removal of a rectified part and the introduction of a new part to be rectified. These movements should be automatic. For this purpose, a housing 27 with a motor 28 has been fixed to the support 26 integral with the frame A.
The latter drives via a helical gear 29, the shaft 30 which carries at one of its ends a control disc 31 and at the other end the bevel pinion 32 and which cooperates, by the intermediary of the front guide groove 33 of the aforementioned disc 31, with the finger 34, with a view to making the lever 35 which is connected, by means of the rod 36, with the slide 37 in which the screw of adjustment 38. This screw is provided at one of its ends with a maneugre wheel 39 (or a similar member); its other end 40 is screwed into the carriage 16.
Screw rotation
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
38 adjusts the position of the carriage 16 inward or outward with respect to its. slide 37, while the lever 33 oscillates under the action of the motor and of the disc in order to cause an automatic back-and-forth movement of the carriage, the amplitude of which is limited by the screw 38.
Thanks to this arrangement, the machine can, for example, adapt to parts to be ground of different diameters or be used to compensate for the wear or reduction in the diameter of the adjusting wheel.
During this work, the adjusting wheel causes the movement of the workpiece to be grinded, a movement contrary to that of the working wheel and causes the final diameter of the workpiece to be grinded to correspond to the distance between the grinding wheels. work and adjustment, distance measured from their points of contact with the part to be ground.
Since the working wheel removes all the material which exceeds this gap, the adjusting wheel can be regarded as constituting the essential factor determining the position and the diameter of the workpiece to be ground.
The carriage carrying the adjustment wheel extends the full depth (front to rear) of the frame and the operating mechanism itself is offset from the entire adjustment wheel.
The rear part of the carriage 16 comprises longitudinal guide grooves 40 'for the auxiliary carriage 41. The latter comprises, perpendicularly to the grooves 40', grooves 42 which serve to guide the carriage 43 which comprises the
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
bearings 44 of the shaft 45 carrying the elongated wheel 46 'of small diameter which wheel is used for internal grinding,
The carriage also carries the high-speed motor 47 which drives directly by means of a belt 48 the grinding wheel 49 mounted on the shaft 45 so that the grinding wheel serving for the internal grinding can be operated at best; speed suitable for grinding.
This shaft rotates counterclockwise in such a way that the contact of the working surface of the grinding wheel with the internal surface of the part to be ground is made in the direction of movement of the external surface of said part. , ¯ movement due to the combined actions of the working and adjustment wheels on the outside of the part to be ground,
In order for the outer surface of the workpiece to be worked as well as the inner surface, there must be a relative movement between the outer working wheel and the adjusting wheel determining the position of the workpiece as well as a movement relative between the inner working wheel and the aforementioned adjustment wheel,
in such a way that the wall finally obtains the exact thickness and in such a way that the inner and outer surfaces are well concentric. This relative movement between the working and setting wheels is preferably obtained using a guide curve mechanism which gives the adjusting wheel a movement directed alternately inward and outward.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
So that this movement is not alone in determining the respective positions of the inner working wheel \ 'and of the adjustment wheel, the carriage carrying the inner grinding device is mounted on the carriage carrying the adjustment wheel and moves by consequent with last. Under these conditions, to bring the workpiece to be ground and the inner working wheel in working position, it is necessary to move the inner working wheel relative to the adjustment wheel.
The power required to automatically adjust the necessary movement of the inner working wheel mechanism relative to the movement of the adjusting wheel is common! * - quée to the shaft 30 via the bevel pinion 32. This pinion meshes with a pinion 50 fixed on the telescopic shaft 51 which carries at its front end a pinion 52 in engagement with the wheel 53 fixed on tree 54.
This shaft carries a disc 55 provided with the guide groove 56 receiving the lug 57 of the oscillating lever 58, which is articulated at 59 on projections 60 of the carriage 16 and which is coupled. by means of the connecting rods 61, with the slide 62. This slide carries, freely articulated, the end of the adjustment screw 63 which can slide longitudinally in the guide 64 and whose front end penetrates into the threaded part 65 of the carriage 41. The general organization is that of the mechanism already described for the movement of the carriage 16. The two devices
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
guide groove for both carriages are driven periodically by the motor
27 in such a way that their actions are in perfect synchronism.
The guide grooves of the two control discs 33 and 56 may have dimensions such that they impart to the carriage any desired relative movement.
During so-called "introduction" grinding operations (whether the grinding is external or internal) it is good that the part to be rectified is animated, with respect to the working wheel, in a back and forth movement in order to To avoid the production of scuffing, etc ... and for the grinding wheel wear to be evenly distributed so that the product is uniform, Figure 5 shows a mechanism for achieving this result.
The shaft 45 of the inner grinding wheel carries a wheel 66 which meshes with the idler wheel 67 by means of a double differential toothed wheel 68 which determines the slow rotation of the wheel 67 relative to the shaft. 45, This wheel is generally immobilized in the axial direction between the stop rib 68 '' (secured to the housing 69) and the locking disc 70 capable of being released and which can be put out of the position of locking by means of the operating handle 71,
The hub of the wheel 67 carries a pin, or a roller 72, which is engaged in the groove 73 of the hub 74 of the wheel 66.
This hub is immobilized in the axial direction, on the shaft 4, as a result of the contact of one of its ends with a shoulder
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
and by means of the thrust bearing 75 arranged at the other end
During the rotation of the shaft 49, the wheel 66 drives the wheel 68 and determines, as a result of the difference in the number of teeth ;, the rotation of the wheel 67 which rotates at a slightly different speed In the locking position of the handle 71, (Figure 5) the wheel 67 is kept stationary in the axial direction.
It follows that the pin 72, which constantly slides in the groove 73, determines a relative displacement of the shaft 45 and its grinding wheel in such a way that the latter is animated by a back-and-forth movement. comes during labor. If one wishes to suppress this movement, for example for the adjustment, one turns the handle 71 to the right and one releases the locking disc 70.
The various components continue to rotate but the wheel 67 can then come and go by sliding on the hub 64 under the action of the ramp of the groove axis, without any movement / of the grinding wheel occurring. , if desired, use nut retainer 76 (whose contact with thrust bearing 75 is adjustable) to prevent axial displacement of the shaft.
The adjustment of the inner grinding wheel can be achieved, for example, by means of the adjusting device 77 which is mounted on the housing of the adjusting grinding wheel and which can be adjusted by means of the handwheel 78. During this operation carried out. for example, using the screw 78 'and the handwheel 79, the carriage 43 moves in its
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
guide grooves 42 by performing a reciprocating movement.
The working cycle is illustrated in Figures 7, 8 and 9. To induce the workpiece in the machine, the adjusting wheel 22 is removed from the working wheel C. The inner wheel 46 is moved away. (at the same time as the adjusting wheel) in relation to the working wheel;
it is, on the other hand, remote from the adjustment wheel by means of its control disc, so that it is substantially in the middle or in the axis of the box or in the axis of a part to be ground 80 any (figure?) ,,
Given, on the one hand, that the part to be ground must have a well-defined external diameter and, on the other hand, that it is of prime importance that its internal surface be concentric with the external surface in order to have a thickness of uniform wall, the grinding of the outer surface is preferably completed first.
This operation is determined by the reduction in the distance between the grinding wheels achieved, for example, by means of a movement of the main carriage of the adjustment grinding wheel in the direction of the working grinding wheel. This brought the workpiece to be ground in perfect contact with the working grinding wheel C (Figure 8). The guide groove 56 comprises. at this point there is a concentric part, so that no variation can occur in the spacing between the inner wheel 46 and the adjusting wheel 22.
The inner wheel remains inactive until the most important part of the grinding is completed, on the
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
outer surface of the workpiece From this point, the guide groove 56 becomes active and brings the inner grinding wheel 46 into contact with the inner wall of the workpiece, this contact being in front of the adjusting grinding wheel; after which, the inner grinding wheel comes into action to grind to a uniform thickness the wall of the part to be grinded in a rotating movement. This thickness is determined by the final spacing which exists between the neighboring parts of the grinding wheels 46 and 22.
Since the workpiece was first ground so as to have the exact outside diameter and a perfectly cylindrical shape, it is the outer cylindrical surface whose position is fixed by the adjusting wheel that determines the position. of the workpiece relative to the inner wheel. When the distance between the wheels 22 and 46 is adjusted, the workpiece. grind is ground in a perfectly concentric manner. The entire operation requires only a single operation for the internal grinding without a positioning operation or other operations for fixing the part to be ground.
When the grinding is complete, the grinding wheels move from the position shown in Figure 9 to the initial position shown in Figure 7, after which the finished part is removed to make room for a new one.
To facilitate the removal of the finished part, it is possible to use an ejector 24 which is put in an extraction position by means of springs 81 and which rests, via
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
a projection 82 on the teeth 83 of a ratchet wheel
84 carried by the rod 85 which rests in the bearings
86 of the support 17. At the front end of the rod
85 is fixed 'a ratchet 87 (Figure la) in which engages the pawl 88 integral with a toothed wheel 89 which meshes with a rack 90 of the frame A.
The teeth 83 have flat resting surfaces 84 'on which the projection 82 usually rests, which keeps the voter in the armed position.
When the carriage of the adjusting wheel moves outwards, the wheel 89 begins to rotate as a result of its engagement with the rack 90. This rotation is communicated, by means of the pawl and the ratchet, to the rod 85, so that when the distance between the grinding wheels increases ,, the projection 82 escapes from one of the teeth which retains it, the spring 81 then being able to move the ejector by lowering it.
When the rotation continues, the next tooth 83 returns the ejector to the initial position, so that a new part to be ground can be introduced. During the return movement of the adjusting wheel carriage, the wheel 89 rotates in the opposite direction and the pawl 88 returns empty on the ratchet 87 so that the ejector remains in its cocked position until the distance between grinding wheels increased again
So that the part to be ground is constantly held after its introduction into the space between the grinding wheels and occupies the appropriate place there, an upper roller 90 'serving as a stopper can grip the part to be ground; this pebble is carried by an arm
<Desc / Clms Page number 14>
91 articulated on the housing B of the working wheel.
This arm is subjected to a sufficient action of a spring 92 such that the roller 90 ′ exerts on the part to be ground and in order to immobilize the latter, sufficient pressure and pushes said part against the adjusting wheel and against the support to hold it between the two grinding wheels.
Thanks to this process, the parts to be ground are simultaneously ground on their internal and external surfaces, while these parts are held freely between members which perform the entire grinding and between members which regulate the speed of rotation of the part. to rectify.
