"TUBULAR BEAM WITH REDUCED SECTION AND LARGE SURFACE
HEATER FOR FUME TUBE BOILERS. "
The present improvement patent, to the main patent recalled above, relates to the use of solid blind tubes placed concentrically in the smoke tubes of large section and thus creating annular spaces for the circulation of the heating fluid. .
In order to better highlight the above description, the appended drawing represents:
Fig. I a longitudinal section through a smoke tube with a massive tube center.
Fig. 2 a cross section.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Referring to Figs. above, a and a1 represent the walls between which are arranged the smoke tubes such as b, inside which-and concentrically are ... places the massive blind tubes, such as c, provided with loaded supports S

to ensure the cO ::: 1centricity of the countertUl> e-.1la'rec the tube itself b.
Thus the mass of the massive blind counter-tubes c is carried on the path of the gas at the momentary temperature of the latter and there is thus constituted, within the bundle, a significant accumulation of heat. This heat flywheel is particularly effective in recovery boilers where the gas heat back-up is not constant.
It should be noted that the thermal energy thus accumulated is very important if one considers that at the average temperature of only 350 ° C. the specific heat of the steel is 0.13 cal / Kg, which brings the total heat absorbed per Kg of material to 49 cal / Kg, or per running meter of counter tubes, 610 calories.
The counter-tubes c 'in flue-tube boilers the office of masonry in water-tube boilers from the point of view of heat accumulation, but with an efficiency corresponding to the diffusion of the surface of the pipe. radiation of the counter tubes in the bundle.
The action of the counter-tubes ± brought to the temperature of the gases is particularly valuable at the entrance to the bundle of recovery boilers where they can determine by radiation the combustion of unburned gases whether they come from furnaces or heaters. gas torches.
Against the tubes c being mobile, the cleaning of the bundle on the gas side is done very easily after having removed them, the free section of the tubes allowing the use of high-caliber brushes.
Indirectly, it results from the use of counter-tubes cune

an increase in the volume of water in the boilers due to the larger diameter of the tubes employed, which necessitates a greater spacing thereof. @ ,,, The advantages of the tube bundle thus formed with a reduced section and a large heating surface. specific, can be summarized as follows: 'a) Good resistance of the tubular flanges and of the bundle by the use of large diameter tubes:
b) Easy maintenance on the water and gas side. c) Re-ignition of unburned gases and accumulation of heat, resulting in a regulating action of vaporization and elasticity of production; d) Greater volume of water from the generators.
