<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

without difficulty, in the case of Ge bearings, lJOrc, they Orll.l1'l [I1.i. "E'b @ @ turn with a certain clearance, provided for this purpose
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In addition, a slight increase in the clearance in the bearing has no appreciable disadvantages.
; 'on the other hand, it is a question of rolling bearings (ball, roller, cone bearings) which rotate practically without play, an adjustment of this kind is impossible. the object of the present invention is therefore, in the case of transmissions with rolling bearings, to allow the position of the shafts to be adjusted in a simple manner with respect to each other. To this end, at least one of the bearings for the wheel and the pinion is provided with an adjustment device which allows the position of the shafts to be changed with respect to each other.
In the drawing 'a designates the pinion and b the transmission wheel; , c, are the pinion bearings, and d, those of the wheel. f is an eccentric ring which, by way of example and in accordance with the drawing, is constructed in one piece with the end cover g of the bearing The frame is bored with an eccentricity x with respect to the bore of the bearing The thickness of the eccentric ring has a difference of the same value so that, in the position shown in the drawing, the two eccentricities are compensated.
As the external diameter of this ring corresponds exactly to the bore of the cavity established in the frame, and its internal diameter to the external diameter of the rolling bearing, the thickness of the ring however exhibiting a difference (equal to the value of the eccentricity chosen), it is possible, by rotating this ring, to change the position of the shaft correspondingly.
If, during adjustment, the position of the shaft must only be changed very exactly in a certain plane, it is necessary to have two rings placed one inside the other and the eccentricities of which compensate for each other. adjustment rings of this kind, one of them can, however, be replaced

placed by an eccentric bore made in the frame.
Instead of being limited to just one of the four layers, the existence of this adjustment device can be extended to two or more of them. In the case of double gear transmissions, it is desirable to provide such an adjusting device for each of the pairs of toothed wheels which correspond to one another.
It is preferable that such an adjusting device is established on the side of the wheel or pinion where there is no coupling, and where a smaller bearing is employed. In this case, the two bearing bores can be given equal or approximately equal dis- tances. equal.
