<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

FIREPLACE FOR ARTIFICIAL INCUBATOR, BREEDER OR FOR ANY OTHER GENEUS OF HEATING.
# # # Under the profits of the. International Convention of 1883 had regard to the. patent application filed in the Netherlands on 10-2-27, # # #
The present invention relates to a hearth for an artificial incubator, a breeder or for any other type of heating; the arrangement of this fireplace is such that the temperature of the spaces to be heated is kept constant in all circumstances.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
This is obtained according to the invention, pax the fact that the air intake under the grate and the evacuation of the combustion products are regulated by a common member, except for the action of heat. of the fluid heated by the fireplace.
Other characteristics of the invention will be set out below in the description and the claims.
The invention is shown by way of example in the accompanying drawings. This is a schematic vertical section of a hearth more especially intended for a breeder.
The fireplace essentially consists of two parts, namely a combustion chamber 1 and a space 2 located above this chamber. This is provided with a grid 3, while a vertical pipe 4 opens into the ashtray and serves for the air intake under the grid.
This pipe can be closed by a valve 5, controlled as will be indicated below. The combustion chamber 1 communicates with the. upper chamber2 by a short pipe 6 whose opening can be closed by a suup: pe 7 and which is also provided with side openings 8, always free.
The, fireplace 9 opens into bedroom 2, while in the. An opening 10 is formed in the upper wall of this chamber 10. In this opening is placed a guide tulle for the stem 11 of the valve 7.
The opening 20 places the chamber 2 in constant communication with the surrounding space; the result obtained by this arrangement will be explained below.
The rod 11 of the valve 7 and the rod 12 of the. valve 5 are connected by articulated joints to a lever 13,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
capable of rotating around the axis 14 and provided at its free end with a counterweight 15, capable of sliding on the lever. Between the counterweight 15 and the axis 14 there is an adjustable regulator 16, which can be adjusted very precisely. This regulator is composed of a caliper in which a small cast iron part with adjustment screw 20 can rotate around the axis 14, The lower end of this screw is provided with a recess in which a rod engages. 17 connected to a membrane 18 resting on the yoke 21. The latter is attached to a pipe 19, which is fixed to the fireplace by means of a rod.
The regulator is adjusted by rotating screw 20,
The rods 11 and 12 are of such lengths and arranged in such a way that the valve 5 closes the opening of the pipe 4 before the valve 7 closes the opening of the pipe 6.
The operation of the fireplace described is as follows:
When the hearth starts to burn, the lever 13 is tilted to the left and the valves 7 and 5 are @ open, owing to the fact that the membrane is cold and contracted and therefore pulls on its rod, When the operating temperature of the membrane is reached, this is expanded and has pushed the rod 17 into a position such that the valves 5 and 7 have closed in the desired order. The fireplace, which is not supplied with air under the grille, tempers, but as there is still air intake through the orifices 8 of pipe 6, it does not go out.
This is further encouraged by the fact that there is now a false draft in chamber 2, the result of air entering this chamber through opening 10 to enter the chimney. This air moves along the holes 8
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
@ and thus contributes somewhat to maintaining the fire.
If one wishes to apply the hearth described above to the central heating of artificial incubators or to other uses, it will suffice to provide it with a water jacket, inside which the membrane will be placed,
The heating piping will be connected to the jacket.
All other details of the fireplace remain as described above. The operation is also the same.
