La présente invention a pour objet un appareil destiné a remplacer à la fois le battage et le frottage du linge à la main tout en intensifiant ces deux opérations.
L'invention assure le lavage rationnai du linge par battage et foulage dans l'eau de lavage dont la circulation méthodique est obtenue par des clapets.

A titre d'exemple il a été représenté au dessin annexé une des formes de réalisation d'un appareil construit selon l'invention.

En principe le pilon faisant l'objet de l'invention .comporte un cylindre de,bois 1 en une ou plusieurs pièces, armées ou non, ouvert à sa base inférieure 2 et fermé de l'autre côté en 3. Ce cylindre est divisé intérieurement' en plusieurs compartiments 4,4',4" séparés. Le fond commun 3 est percé d'une ou de plusieurs puvertures 5,5',5" correspondant vaux compar- timents 4 et chacune de ces ouvertures est obturée extérieure- ment par un clapet mobile 6 permettant quand il- se soulève par suite de la pression du linge lors du mouvement descendant du pilon de laisser échapper l'eau de lavage qui a traversé le +issu 7 de l'intérieur à l'extérieur ainsi que l'indique la flèche 8. Les clapets 6 peuvent être en toute matière appropriée assurant l'étanchéité nécessaire.
Il peutn'yavoir qu'un seul clapet pour la totalité des ouvertures 5 de tous les compar- timents comme indiqué au dessin.
Dans ce cas il peut être formé d'un disque forré d'un tissu à mailles serrées et être appuyé sur toutes les ouver- tures 5 au moyen d'un disque métalique 9 ou autre matière appropriée. 11 peut être également appuyé par un ressorit 11 réglé pour la circonstance.
L"appareil n'est évidemment pas nécessiairement cylindrique il peut comporter un nombre quelconqe de compartiments, (il peut être réduit à un seul) ainsi que de clapets pour chaque compartiment.
L'appareil au lieu d'être en bois peut être en métal ou en sutre rativre, il peut êtr emanoeuvré par toiut autre moyen que par un manche central 10 comme imdqué au dessin.
