<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Le dispositif de la figure 1 comporte : - un support 1 comprenant un profilé creux 2 de section transversale sensiblement carrée, un moyen de fixation 3 portant ledit profilé creux 2 et comportant un aimant pour fixer 1 support sur une armature ou structure du camion ou d'une remorque ou sur une plaque 4 appropriée destinée à être fixée sur le camion ou la remorque au cas où la structure du camion ou remorque n'est pas apte à la fixation d'un aimant (par exemple dans le cas d'une armature ou structure en aluminium), et un bouchon 5 pour fermer l'extrémité libre du profilé creux 2 ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

The present invention relates to a winder device for straps, in particular truck straps or truck trailers.
Document US Pat. No. 4,266,640 discloses a belt winder device comprising a support on which is mounted a shaft rotatable relative to an axis of rotation, said shaft extending between a first end and a second end and having at least a first portion of winding with an open slot at the first end of the shaft, said device further comprising means for rotating the shaft relative to the support. A major problem related to the device according to this document is a unwinding or unrolling of the strap wound during removal of the rolled webbing of the tree.
Upon removal of the strap wrapped around the shaft, the central portion of the strap is pulled out of the winding of the strap forming a spiral species extending out of the plane of a face of the wrapped strap. The recess of this central portion is difficult, if not impossible, thus making such wound straps difficult to store and / or reuse.
The present invention aims among other things to overcome this disadvantage.
The device according to the invention is a device for winding straps, in particular truck straps or truck trailers, said device comprising a support on which is mounted a rotary shaft with respect to an axis of rotation, said shaft comprising or cooperating with an element around which is intended to wind the strap, said element (adapted for winding) having a free end and at least one open slot at said free end of the element, said device further comprising means for the rotating the shaft relative to the support.
This device is characterized in that the element is mounted movably relative to the support in an axial direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the shaft, and in that at least said element is adapted to undergo at least one
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
axial movement relative to the support sufficient to bring the free end of the element in the vicinity of a portion of the support.
This axial movement of the element allows easy removal of the strap wound out of the shaft, while avoiding any withdrawal of the strap relative to the side faces of the rolled strap (faces perpendicular to the axis of rotation).
Preferably, the element forms an extension of the shaft. The shaft is movably mounted relative to the support in an axial direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the shaft, while at least said shaft is adapted to undergo at least one axial movement relative to the support sufficient to bring the free end of the element in the vicinity of a portion of the support.
Advantageously, the shaft is removably mounted relative to the support. This facilitates the removal of the rolled up webbing.
Preferably, the shaft is associated with a crank. This crank facilitates on the one hand the rotation of the shaft, but also the axial movement of the shaft relative to the support to remove the strap rolled out of the shaft.
According to a particularly advantageous form, the crank is mounted removably and / or pivotally relative to the shaft. This makes the device compact for easy storage in a truck.
In this case, it is advantageous that the crank is connected to the shaft by means of a flexible connecting member, in particular a strap, rope or chain. This avoids wasting time looking for the crank.
According to a detail of an embodiment, the shaft has a substantially cylindrical winding portion with a diameter substantially corresponding to the diameter of an element of the support receiving at least a portion of the shaft.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
According to embodiments for which the shaft is axially movable between a first winding position and a second position remote from this first position, the device comprises means for limiting the axial movement of the shaft towards its first position and / or means for limiting the axial movement of the shaft to its second position.
According to an advantageous embodiment, the device comprises at least one guide means for guiding at least partially the winding of the strap.
Preferably, the guide means comprises at least one plate removably or movably mounted on the shaft, said plate being advantageously connected to the shaft by a flexible link.
For example, the guiding means comprises a plate secured to the support or mounted to move relative to the support and / or a plate mounted to move relative to the support, said plate having means for ensuring its drive by the shaft during the rotation of the this one. The use of two trays can guide the winding of the strap in the volume defined between the trays.
According to a detail of an embodiment, the support has a substantially flat wall serving as guide means during the winding of a strap. Advantageously, the guide wall has two portions located on either side of the axis of rotation of the shaft. Preferably, said portions of the guide wall have a length sufficient to ensure that two portions of a side face of the wound strap touch said portions of the guide wall.
According to one embodiment, the device comprises means for removably attaching the support to a part of a truck or a trailer. This allows easy storage in the truck or the use of the same device for several trucks. The means for removably attaching the support to a portion of a truck or trailer is in particular a magnet, for example
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
example a magnet capable of generating a tensile force of more than 500N, in particular of more than 1000N. The magnet advantageously has a substantially circular or annular shape.
Advantageously, the device comprises means for maintaining the removable shaft in its winding position, said means advantageously comprising at least one elastic element or spring.
Features and details of the invention will become apparent from the following detailed description in which reference is made to the accompanying drawings showing a preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention.
The present invention also relates to the use of a device according to the invention for winding straps, in particular trucks or truck trailers. The straps thus wound are properly wound and can easily be stored or stored stably with a low risk of unwinding.
In these drawings, FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a device according to the invention; FIG. 2 is a sectional view along the line II-II of the device of FIG. 1; FIG. FIG. 4 is a side view of the device of FIG. 1 showing a partial winding of a strap, FIG. 5 is a side view of the device of FIG. Figure 6 is a sectional view along the line VI-VI of the device shown in Figure 2; Figures 7 to 9 show removal of the strap wrapped from the shaft;
FIG. 10 shows a detail of an embodiment of a crank, FIG. 11shows a guide plate adapted to be mounted on the shaft,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
FIG. 12 is a perspective view of another guide plate adapted to be mounted on the shaft, FIG. 13 is a partial view showing the placement of the plates of FIGS. 8 and 9, FIG. 14 shows a tree having distinct rods. around which is wound a strap.
The device of FIG. 1 comprises: a support 1 comprising a hollow profile 2 of substantially square cross-section, a fixing means 3 carrying said hollow profile 2 and comprising a magnet for fixing a support on a frame or structure of the truck or a trailer or on a suitable plate 4 to be fixed on the truck or trailer in case the structure of the truck or trailer is not suitable for fixing a magnet (for example in the case of a frame or aluminum structure), and a plug 5 for closing the free end of the hollow section 2;
- A shaft 6 rotatably mounted (R) relative to the hollow section 2 (rotation about an axis of rotation A-A perpendicular to the longitudinal axis B-B of the hollow section
2), said shaft 6 being hollow and having a portion 6A around which is intended to wind the strap, said portion 6A having a free end
6B and at least one slot 6C open at said free end 6B of the portion
6A, - a crank 7 attached to the shaft 6 for the rotation thereof relative to the support 1.
The shaft is movably mounted (arrow X) relative to the support 1 in an axial direction parallel to the axis of rotation (AA) of the shaft 6. The shaft 6 is adapted to undergo at least one axial movement (X ) relative to the support 1 sufficient to bring the free end 6B of the shaft 6 in the vicinity of a portion of the support 1.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The shaft 6 has a substantially cylindrical winding portion 6B with a diameter substantially corresponding to the diameter of the hole 8 of the face 9 of the section 2 along which a strap is wound.
The shaft 6 is axially movable between a first winding position (see FIG. 2) and a second position remote from this first position (see FIG. 9) allowing the release of the wound strap of the shaft 6. The shaft 6 is associated with a means 10 for limiting the axial movement of the shaft to its first position, as well as to its second position. This means 10 (see FIGS. 2 and 7) is a clip clamp 11 engaged in a groove 12 of the shaft 6, this clip clamp being situated in the hollow of the profile 2. A spring 13 extends between an inner face of the profile 2 and the clip clamp 11, said spring pushing the shaft towards its winding position. The release of a strap wound out of the shaft is therefore against the action of the spring 13.
The greenhouse clips 11sert means to limit the displacement of the shaft 6, the clip 11butant clamp on one or the other inner wall of the hollow profile.
The device comprises at least one guide means for guiding at least partially the winding of the strap. The guide of the winding is operated by the face 9 of the section 2 which is intended to come into contact with an edge of the strap during its winding and a side face of the wound strap.
The guide wall 9 has two portions 9A, 9B located on either side of the axis of rotation AA of the shaft 6. Said portions 9A, 9B have a length sufficient to ensure that two portions 14, 15 of a side face 16 of the wrapped webbing touch said portions 9A, 9B of the guide wall.
The section 2 has a length of about 250mm, the axis of rotation A-A being located substantially mid-length of the profile. The crank 7 comprises an arm 7A of length such that the rotation of the crank describes a maximum circular movement of radius less than the half-length of the profile.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
Figures 4 to 6 show the winding of a strap 17. The end 17A of the strap 17 is engaged in the hollow of the shaft 6 via the slot 6C. Then turning the crank 7 in the Z direction, the strap 17 is wound on itself spiral. Figure 5 shows the strap wound on the shaft 6. Figure 6 is a partial sectional view of the device with the strap of Figure 5.
To remove the wrapped strap 17 around the shaft 6, a traction T is exerted on the crank 7 against the action of the spring 13. The portion 6A returns by this traction T in the hollow of the profile 2. By this movement, the end 17A of the strap 17 is gradually emerging from the slot and the hollow of the shaft. When the portion 6A of the shaft is substantially completely retracted into the hollow of the profile 2, the wound strap 17 is removed from the shaft. (Figure 9) After removing the strap, the spring 13 brings the portion 6A out of the section 2 to ensure a new winding.
The portion 6A has a length such that it can penetrate substantially completely in the hollow.
In the case shown, the distance separating the opposite walls of the profile 2 between which the shaft 6 extends substantially corresponds to the length of the portion 6A.
10 shows a crank 7 whose shaft 7A has a portion adapted to be engaged in a hole 20 of the shaft 6. A spring 21 ensures a link between the shaft 6 and the crank 7 so as not to lose the crank when dismounting.
11 shows a plate 25 adapted to be mounted on the shaft 6 or more exactly on the portion 6A on which the strap is wound. The plate 25 has a central hole 26 intended to give passage to the portion 6A and a finger 27 extending (for example at least radially) in the hole 26, said finger 27 being
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
intended to be placed in the slot 6C of the winding portion 6A so as to ensure the rotation of the plate 25 during the rotational drive of the shaft 6.
Figure 12 shows a plate 30 to be mounted on the free end 6B of the winding portion 6A. The plate 30 is integral with a hollow shaft end 31 with an axial slot 32. The shaft end 31 has a diameter adapted to be engaged in the hollow of the portion 6A. The slot 32 is adapted to receive a portion of the end 17A of the strap 17 inserted into the hollow of the portion 6A via the slot 6C. This engagement of the end 17A in the slot 32 makes it possible to rotate the plate 30 during the rotation of the shaft 6 for the winding of the strap 17.
FIG. 13 shows the placement of the trays 25 and 30 on the winding portion 6A so as to define a winding volume V between the trays, said trays 25, 30 serving as guiding means for the edges of the strap during its winding.
Figure 14 shows a shaft 6 carrying a series of rods 40 forming the winding zone for the strap. The free end of the strap to be wound is intended to be engaged between at least two rods 40 so as to ensure the attachment of this end.
It is clear that many other modifications are possible, such as using other means to mount the device on a truck or trailer.
In embodiments, the device can be fixedly mounted to the truck or trailer. The shaft 6 may optionally be removably mounted relative to the support. In this case a flexible link, such as a rope, is advantageously used to connect, once the shaft removed from the support, the shaft to the support (to avoid losing the shaft once the latter dismounted).
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
It is clear that the crank can be placed either on the right side or on the left side of the support to facilitate the operation for a right-handed person or a left-handed person.
