Abstract

A cargo strap winder has a magnetic base with a pair of straightening rollers and a main support column carrying a slotted spindle which is moved via a handle and a gear assembly. The strap is fed through the rollers and the end placed in the slot of the spindle and wound up by rotating the handle. Once rolled, the strap can be removed for storage. The gear assembly comprises a small and a large gear provided between two support plates in a housing provided on the support column.

Description

CARGO STRAP WINDER This invention relates to a cargo strap winder.
There is no divice on the market at present that does the same job as the cargo strap winder The cargo strap winder comprises of,a magnetic base with two rollers, a main column, geared winder with handle, a slotted spindle and two retaining plates.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the complete assembly, as well as the possibility for a left handed option.
Figure 2 shows the main assembly consisting of a magnetic base,support column and gear housing.
Figure 3 shows slotted spindle assembly, one of the retaining plates and the smallest of the two gears.
Figure 4 comprises of the larger of the two gears, and the second retaining plate, also the winding handle.
Figure 5 shows a front and side view of the straightening roller assembly.
The cargo strap winder is firstly placed onto the side of the trailer, by means of it's magnetic base.
In order to operate the cargo strap winder you must first,feed the free end of the cargo strap between the two bottom rollers, as shown in figure 5, this component eliminates twist's whilst winding.It is then threaded into the slotted spindle at the top as in figure 3.
Using the winding handle the strap is now wound until the buckle reaches the rollers, the strap can now be slid off of the spindle and packed away.

Claims (3)

1 The cargo strap winder comprises of a main frame, a magnetic base,a slotted spindle, a set of gears with two retaining plates, winding handle and two straightening rollers.
2 The cargo strap winder as claimed in claim 1 has a main frame and a magnetic base for support of the winding assembly.
3 A cargo strap winder as claimed in claim 1 in which the set of gears comprises one large one smaller provided between the two retaining plates to accommodate the winding assembly
3 The cargo strap winder as claimed in claim 1 has two gears one small, one large with the two retaining plates which accomadates the slotted spindle and the winding assembley.
4 The cargo strap winder as claimed in claim 1 and claim 3 has a slotted spindle for the easy removal of the cargo strap.
5 The cargo strap winder as claimed in claim 3 has a winding handle which rotates the gears, and the slotted spindle.
6 The cargo strap winder as claimed in claim 1 has two straightening rollers which, eliminates twists in the strap when being rolled.
Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows CLAIMS 1A cargo strap winder comprises of a main frame, a magnetic base,a slotted spindle, a set of gears with two retaining plates, winding handle and two straightening rollers.
2 A cargo strap winder as claimed in claim 1 in which the main frame and magnetic base support the winding assembly.
