<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
porte-pain 1.

The present invention relates to a machine for cutting bread into slices and comprising a set of movable cutting blades extending in parallel planes and a bread driving device for placing the bread to be cut against the blades and drag it between the cutting blades.
Generally, bread slicing machines are equipped with a bagging machine to facilitate the bagging of cut bread. A bagging machine essentially consists of a pallet fixed to the machine frame or on the cover covering the cutting blades. This pallet is used by the machine operator to place the cut bread in it and thread a sachet to wrap and contain the cut bread. With such a bagging machine, it is necessary to take the cut bread in hand when it comes out between the cutting blades and to deposit it on the bagging machine.
The invention aims to overcome the drawbacks due to these manipulations.
This object is achieved, according to the invention, by a machine for slicing bread into slices comprising a bread-holder table, a set of cutting blades, a device for driving the bread and a retractable bagging machine in the exit zone of the bread table.
The bagging machine consists of a pallet articulated at one end around a pivot and coupled to a jack arranged to make it take an inclined position.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Thanks to this arrangement, a cut bread emerging from between the cutting blades automatically rests on the pallet and can be driven by the pallet during its tilting movement.
The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of the attached drawings which illustrate an exemplary embodiment.
Figures 1 and 2 are elevational views of the outlet area of a bread cutting machine according to the invention.
Figures 3 and 4 are top views of the machine exit area shown in Figures 1 and 2.
In the drawings, the reference signs designate the following elements:
1 bread table
2 cutting blades
3 bagging pallet
4 bread rests
5 wing of the pallet
6 cylinder
7 frame
8 fixing wing
9 pivot axis 10 hook for attaching the pallet According to the invention, the bagging pallet 3 is mounted to be retractable in the bread-holder table 1 as shown in FIG. 1. The pallet 3 is articulated at one end around a pivot axis 9 having its longitudinal axis inclined so that it moves away from the cutting blades 2 as it moves away from the plane of the table
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
bread holder 1. The pallet 3 is retained in the retracted position by a hook 10 engaged in an orifice provided in the pallet.
When the end of the pallet 3 is released from the retaining hook 10 by a simple pressure exerted on the pallet, the latter pivots about a pivot axis 9 under the action of the jack 6. The pivoting movement of the pallet has a double component: on the one hand, an upward pivoting movement as shown in Figure 2 and, on the other hand, a pivoting movement angularly separating the pallet from the outlet of the cutting blades 2 as shown in the figure 4. This double pivoting movement is printed on the pallet by the combination of the action of the jack 6 and of the inclination given to the pivot axis 9 thanks to the arrangement of the wing 5 of the pallet 3 and of the fixing wing 8 secured to the frame 7 of the machine. It should be noted that during its double pivoting movement, the pallet 3 does not pivot around its longitudinal axis.
When the cut bread comes out from between the cutting blades 2, it automatically comes to rest on the pallet 3 occupying the position illustrated in FIG. 3. It is then enough for the operator to press on the pallet 3 to release it from the retaining hook 10. The pallet, carrying the cut bread, then automatically rotates into its inclined position (Figures 2 and 4). During its tilting movement, the cut bread is retained by the bread rest 4 without the operator having to intervene. The operator can simply and easily thread a sachet to pack the cut bread.
