- the connecting rod 25 has a hook 25a at each of its ends. This connecting rod 25 connects the sliding sleeve 26 by a fixing 26b, and the breaking head 23 by fixing 23c.
- the manual tile cutter operates in two phases: first allows to mark by a notch by means of the wheel 19, the face upper 22a of the tile 22 placed on the flexible supports 8 and 9 and positioned suitably for example on the axial stop 10 and the rule 13.
- the second phase makes it possible to break the tile 22 into two parts, by means of the breaking head 23.
- Fig. 3 shows the device used during the notch phase of the tile to be cut 22. During this phase, the operator presses radially on the handle 21 (arrow A), so that the wheel 19 comes into contact with the upper face 22a of the tile to cut 22.
- the operator sets up in position working the breaking head 23, responsible for precisely breaking the tile 22 around the axis formed by the longitudinal edge 15. To do this, the operator reports from a few degrees the operating handle 21 around the axis 17, so as to separate the wheel 19 of the tile 22. It operates the control member 30 by the flange 30b located near the operating handle 21, counteracting the action of the return means 27 (see arrow C). It thus forces the head to break 23 to pass from its rest position R to its working position T, for the duration of the action on the control member 30 of the control means 34.
- the angular stop 32 of the breaking head 23 comes into contact with the protrusion 33 of the bearing 5 and limits the angular movement of the head to break 23 in a position where the lower faces 28a and 29a are substantially parallel to the upper part 22a of the tile 22.
- the operator presses vertically on the handle 21 (arrow D), it transmits this force through the head to break 23 on the lateral sides of the upper face 22a of the tile 22, thanks to the supports side 28 and 29 until the pane 22 breaks around the edge 15.
- the spring 27 allows the breakable head 23 to be raised to its rest position R, after the operation breakage of the pane, by a kinematics opposite to that of its armament.
- the spring 27 drives in translation in the direction of the articulation 7, the control means 34 which move the link 25.
- This link 25 rotates the head to break 23 around the axis 17, until the angular displacement of said head to be broken 23 either limited by the contact of the interior wall 23a with the bearing surface 7b of the articulation 7, the breaking head 23 is then in its rest position R.
- control means 34 of the invention is shown schematically in FIG. 5, where the breaking head 23 appears in its working position T, and the control means 34 placed near the handle maneuver 21.
- Said control means 34 consist of a lever 36 terminated at a free end by a trigger member 30.
- the control means 34 are pivotally mounted around the articulation 20a positioned on the other end of the lever 36, and mounted transversely on the axis of the operating lever 20.
- a link 25 connects the breaking head 23 by its fixing 23c, with the means of control 34 by a fixing 30d, placed between the control member 30 and the articulation 20a of the control means 34.
- a return means 27 in this case a spring 27 in FIG. 5 is hung on the one hand, on a fixing 20b located on the axis of the operating lever 20, and on the other leaves with a final attachment 30c also placed between the control member 30b and the articulation 20a of the control means 34.
- control member 30b of the control means 34 transmits a movement to the link 25.
- the latter rotates about the axis 24 the head to be broken 23 from a rest position R to a working position T.
- the spring 27 recalls the means of control 34, which pivot about its axis 20a, and push on the link 25 and bring the head to break in the rest position R.
- the double maneuver to arm the breaking head 23 and to make it descend, is carried out by one hand of the operator, who can hold the other hand tile in place on supports 8 and 9.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a manual device for cutting tiles. especially ceramic.
Such devices generally have a fixed part, or base, which allows to position the tile to be cut, a mobile part or carriage, sliding between two extreme positions, on at least one rail connected to the base. This cart travels over of the tile support, and comprises an articulated operating rod, a notch to first mark the tile, a head and its operating mechanism, to break the tile in a second step by means lateral supports placed on either side of a longitudinal edge, located under the wheel trajectory.
We know the patent document FR-A 2 462 244 which shows an apparatus for cut the tiles such as the one just described, and which allows a setting automatic place of the head to break. The breaking head follows in a high position the notch wheel during its journey on the tile, then comes into contact with it when the wheel is housed in a space in front of the tile. This provision requires to break the tile by pressing on a part close to an edge, without distributing the homogeneous stresses in the tile. This can fracture in several mismatched pieces.
We also know the European patent document EP-A 387 142 which requires manual intervention to set up the head to break, by a small lever located on the carriage. During this operation, it is not possible to maintain manually the tile on its support. But the tile must absolutely not move between the notch operation and its fracture, on pain of breaking it badly and making it unusable.
An object of the invention is therefore to propose an apparatus for cutting tiles which allows a quick and precise cutting of the tile, by performing the notching and breaking with one hand, the other hand being used to effectively maintain the tile on its support.
To this end, a manual device for cutting the tiles according to the invention is characterized in that the control means of the breaking head are placed at near the free end of the handle.
According to another characteristic of the invention, said breaking head is designed to being able to pivot between its rest position and its working position, said device comprising a member for connecting control means to said head to be broken for controlling the pivoting of said head to be broken. Said liaison body is by example a link.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the control means are consisting of a sleeve slidably mounted on the operating lever to which is connected said connecting member, said sleeve being provided for its operation with a flange. Advantageously, said flange extends said sleeve towards a handle at the free end of the operating lever.
According to another characteristic of the invention, it comprises a return means which tends to keep the head from breaking in its resting position. The reminder is for example a spring intended to act on the sleeve.
According to an alternative embodiment of the invention, said control means consist of a lever which is pivotally mounted on the operating lever and to which is connected said connecting member.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the head to be broken has a stop angular in contact, in the working position of the head to be broken, with a protrusion of the bearing.
constitué d'un socle 1 et d'un chariot 4.The manual tile cutter shown in Fig. 1 is essentially
consisting of a base 1 and a
On the base 1 of rectangular appearance are reported two
nombre de paliers fixes 2a et 2b.In Fig. 1, the two
The base 1 also includes an
identiques. In the embodiment shown, the base 1 also includes a stop
axial 10 of semi-cylindrical shape, which can be adjusted around the axis 11 in order to
allow, in cooperation with a
translation sur lesdites glissières 3a et 3b entre les deux paliers 2a et 2b.As for the
à pouvoir pivoter autour de cet axe 17.Fig. 2 shows in detail the construction of the

autour d'un axe transversal 19a.In the embodiment shown, the
Said
It is noted that, under the control of the
A breaking

dite de travail en trait fort à la Fig. 2.On the upper part of each
carreau 22.This breaking

l'organe de commande 30.A return means 27, in this case a spring in FIG. 2, is supported by a

The manual tile cutter operates in two phases:
first allows to mark by a notch by means of the

couper 22.Fig. 3 shows the device used during the notch phase of the tile to be cut

moyens de commande 34.During the second phase, (see Fig. 4), the operator sets up in position

latéraux 28 et 29 jusqu'à rupture du carreau 22 autour de l'arrête 15.In this position, the
An alternative embodiment of the control means 34 of the invention is
shown schematically in FIG. 5, where the breaking
levier de manoeuvre 20.The control means 34 are pivotally mounted around the
ramènent la tête à briser en position de repos R.The operation of the
