<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"SELF-PROPELLED HARVESTER" The present invention relates to a self-propelled harvester, for example a combine harvester whose frame is mainly covered by side walls, a filtering installation in the form of a cylinder being provided at least in a side wall and being arranged so as to be able to pivot around a fixed axis, filtering installation through which the air necessary for cooling, for example the control motor, is attracted by means of a propeller.
A harvester of this type is for example known from patent application DEOS-243 03 07. FIG. 3 of this publication illustrates the filtering installation in the pivoted position allowing the carrying out of the necessary maintenance work. The pivot axis, about which the filter installation pivots, is oriented vertically so that, in the pivoted position, the outer end of the filter installation protrudes widely from the side wall of the harvester. Such a pivoting movement assumes that, for example in the shed where the harvester is stored, a sufficient lateral distance is provided with respect to the wall of the shed or with respect to another vehicle parked in the shed.
The objective of the present invention is therefore to design a harvester of the type mentioned in more detail above so that the displacement of the rotary air-cleaning installation during maintenance is possible in a space restricted.
This objective is achieved by the fact that the pivot axis of the filtering installation is oriented horizontally and transversely to the longitudinal axis of the harvester. Thanks to this position of the pivot axis, the filtering installation is now pivoted upwards in a maintenance position in which it is fixed for example by means of a pneumatic damper known per se. In this pivoted position, the filter installation does not represent a danger for the operator and does not require additional lateral space.

Other advantageous embodiments of the invention are described in the claims.
The present invention will be described in more detail below with the aid of an exemplary embodiment and of several figures schematically representing this example. The figures illustrate respectively: fig. 1: a perspective view of the front part of a harvester; fig. 2: a perspective view of the filtering installation shown in FIG. 1 and of the frame forming part of this installation; fig. 3: the filtering installation shown in FIG. 2 according to a front view; and fig. 4: a section made through the filtering installation shown in FIG. 3.
The reference number 1 designates a self-propelled harvester known per se and provided with front traction wheels 2 and rear steering wheels. Laterally, the harvester 1 is covered by walls of which only the wall 4 is visible in FIG. 1. A part of the side wall 4 has a cutout 5.
In this area, a frame 6 whose front opening 7 can be closed by a pivoting door 8 is housed in the frame of the harvester. Figure 4 clearly shows that in the chassis 6 are placed a radiator 9 and a cooler 10 through which air to be cooled is drawn from the outside by means of a propeller 11 shown only schematically, the air sucked used in known manner for cooling the control motor. In order for this aspirated air to be purified, a filtering installation 12 in the form of a cylinder is provided. This installation of
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
filtering is arranged so that it can rotate around the median axis 13.
To this end, bearings 14 and 15 are placed on the axis 13, the bearing 14 being connected to the front wall 16 of the filtering installation 12 and the bearing 15 being connected by means of arms 17 to the body of cylinder 18 of the filtering installation 12. The axis 13 is welded at one end to uprights 19 whose ends opposite the axis 13 are fixedly connected to the door 8. The door 8 has a circular opening 20 closed by sealingly by the circular filtering installation 12. The filtering installation 12 is driven by a control belt 21 (see fig. 3), said control belt 21 being surrounded by a control wheel 22 connected to a fixed coupling element 23 (see fig. 4).
Against this coupling part 23 is fixed in the active position the coupling element 24 by means of the force of the spring 25.
The coupling element 24 as well as the spring 25 are arranged on a shaft 26 which can be driven, the spring 25 pressing at one end against a stop 27 fixed on the shaft 26. FIGS. 2 and 3 clearly show that the filtering installation 12 respectively the raised door 8 is fixed in the pivoting position by means of a pneumatic cylinder 28. The pivoting takes place in this case around a pivoting axis 29 connected to the chassis 6. For this purpose, an arm 30 is fixed to the door 8, said arm having a pivoting bore 31. One end of the pivot axis exits from this pivoting bore 29 for example by means of circlips so as not to undergo axial displacement.
Figure 1 clearly shows that the door 8 is moved inwardly relative to the side wall 4 of the harvester to such an extent that the front wall, respectively the bottom 12 ′ of the filtering installation 12 is located approximately in the same plane as the side wall 4.
The result is not only an appreciable appearance and form of installation, but also a considerable reduction in dangers during operation.
In order to be able to fix the door 8 and the filtering installation 12 in the operating position, plugs 41 and 32 are fixed to the door 8 and more

particularly on the inside. On the pin 41 is placed a hand lever which can pivot and with which can be connected both an internal pawl 34 and an extension 35. n spring of FIG. 3 only in the pivoted position, the pawl 34 meshes in the latch 36 Another pawl meshes in the latch 38, the two latches 36 and 38 being welded to the frame 6. The pawl 37 is placed on the pin 32 so as to be able to pivot, the pawl 37 having an extension 40.
This extension 40 as well as the extension 35 of the lever 33 are connected to each other by means of a rod 41 so that when the lever 33 is actuated, both the pawl 34 and the pawl 37 can be unlocked.
