Abstract

The inner gate of a lock affording vehicle access to a sensitive site shouldcombine a significant capacity to resist vehicle impact, even when heavy, good capacity to stop pedestrians and an ability to open and close rapidly.Solutions available up till now have different significant drawbacks. Thepresent invention consists of a swivelling and suspended gate, characterisedin that, in the closed position, each wing forms an angle of 90 degreesrelative to the other and of 45 degrees relative to the roadway. The junctionpoint between the wings is orientated towards the threat. Ground anchoringpoints increase still further the intrinsic resistance capacity of thesystem. The angular travel of the wings, which is reduced, may then occurrapidly. It is driven by an electro-mechanical or equivalent device.

Description

 <EMI ID=1.1>

High security, fast-moving suspended gate, used as an interior exit from an airlock for vehicles

The invention relates to a pivoting and suspended swing gate, of a design particularly adapted to withstand the deliberate impact of a vehicle and to pass very quickly from the open position to the closed position.

Access complexes for sites exposed to high risks are normally organized according to the airlock principle. The gates used as the closing element of such an airlock and in particular the interior portal (the one placed on the side of the protected site) must, to be effective with regard to a terrorist threat, present a high resistance to the impact of a heavy vehicle, good stopping capacity against an opponent on foot and a short translation time between the opening and closing phases.

The devices existing so far all have drawbacks.
significant signs compared to the problem posed. Sliding gates are therefore slow and require rarely available lateral clearance. The lifting barriers called barred because of the anti-people obstacle that they carry are slow, of a reduced anti-vehicle resistance and require a lateral clearance equivalent to the height of the anti-people obstacle.

 <EMI ID = 1.1>

with regard to vehicles but, on the other hand, do not have any capacity for arresting people. This weakness is also noted for all types of lifting barriers, even the models optimized for the actual stop of a hostile vehicle.

Finally, the portals. Conventional type suspended and swivels are slow and, as a general rule, have very insufficient resistance to the deliberate impact of a heavy vehicle.

The solution to this problem, introduced by the present invention, introduces a type of gate on which, in the closed position, each leaf forms an angle of 90 [deg.] Relative to the other and 45 [deg.] By compared to the track. The junction point between the leaves is oriented towards the threat. This configuration inherently provides great structural strength. The latter is further increased by anchor points located on the ground. The angular travel limited to 45 [deg.] Between the open position and the closed position, reduces the duration of the movements of the device. These movements are animated by the intervention of an electromechanical device or equivalent.

Besides an efficient dissipation of the kinetic energy of a

impact, the complementary advantage of the portal - its speed of movement - helps to keep traffic flowing

controlled and ensures, if necessary, that the security perimeter is quickly sealed against an unexpected attack.

The invention is illustrated below with the aid of a figure.

We represent the leaves forming an angle of 45 [deg.] Relative to

to the track (see leaves in (1)). The arrow on the ground

(2) indicates the direction of traffic. Ground anchors

(3) & (4) are arranged so as not to impede movement

vehicles while contributing to the absorption of kinetic energy at the impact of the vehicle.

The construction of the portal, object of the invention, calls upon the rules of the art of ironwork. Each leaf is made up of a robust welded tubular structure formed of steel elements of large section. The fact is garnished with sharp points. The lateral pillars on which the leaves are suspended, are large-section pieces, firmly installed on the ground and concreted on site in depth. The ground anchors serving as a possible fulcrum for the leaves are pieces of steel concreted on site. The electromechanical or similar mechanism is organized so as to benefit from good protection against physical and climatic attacks. The power supply is invisible and protected. The structure of the leaves is completed by strong bars or a strong welded or forged mesh.
