<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

EMI2.3
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Spring tool"
Tools with two branches which are operated at a point of rotation and whose opening is maintained by the action of a recovery spring, are in common use.
At present, the location and the shape of said spring interfere with the proper functioning of the tool insofar as the spring protrudes outside the volume of the tool itself, or insofar as it interferes with the throat of the tool and with what the tool grasps, grips, cuts, etc., or because sly objects pick up.
The invention recommends a tool provided with a recovery spring which adapts to the volume of the tool, and which, because recesses are made in the spring, makes it possible to solve the problems indicated above.
The present invention relates to a spring tool comprising two identical parts articulated along a common axis on the periphery of which there is a central groove which receives a spring sliding at its two ends along the branches of the tool. The spring is in one piece and has a general "U" configuration with a curved core which is placed in the central groove and which in this part adapts to the configuration of the tool.
The spring has at least one recess on each of its sides in order to free itself from the branches of the tool, and a hook at the end of each of the sides in order to adapt to each of the branches of the tool. Thus, during the opening and closing of the tool, each hook can slide along the branch concerned, the spring being maintained at all times with the core against the central groove, the sides and the hooks pressing the branches of the tool.
The spring is also characterized by the existence

a third step located in the central area of its curved core.
In addition, the hooks have at their ends recesses forming an angle "α" relative to the hook.

FIG. 2 represents a profile view of the spring tool according to the invention, corresponding to the previous figure.
In these two figures, the branches 2a of the tool 2 are partially cut.

FIG. 5 represents a profile view of the spring 1 corresponding to FIG. 4.
Figure 6 shows a top view of the spring 1 shown in Figures 3 and 4 above.
According to the invention and in accordance with the accompanying drawings,
EMI2.2
The spring tool comprises: - two identical parts articulated along a key axis 3, each comprising a branch 2a, a head 2b and a lateral withdrawal zone at the location of the passage from branch 2a to head 2b, where there is the key pin 3. This configuration of the tool therefore forms a groove 21 and a "mouth" or cavity 16 between the heads 2b.
This cavity 21 houses a spring 1, the ends of which adapt to the branches 2a by sliding.
The spring 1 is in one piece, with a general "U" configuration. It has the following particularities: - äme i i curved to adapt to this place
EMI2.3
in the configuration of the groove 21. The curve of this core is in a semicircle (see FIGS. 1 and 4) - each side of the spring has at least one recess 13 allowing it to free itself from the branch 2a
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
of tool 2, of variable thickness.
This recess is located near the point where the web 11 and the sides 12 of the spring meet, it being understood that there can be several recesses 13 on each side 12 and that others can be provided in d 'other places around the perimeter - the core 11 further comprises at least one recess 17 to avoid the blocking of the spring 1 in the groove 21 or between the two parts of the tool 2.
This recess is located precisely in the center of the core 11, it being understood that there can be more than one recess 17 and that it can be foreseen or provide for other recesses in other zones of the periphery - each on the sides of the spring 12 has an end hook 14 which fits on the branches of the tool 2 and can slide when the tool is opened and closed. These end hooks 14 have an end recess 15 forming an angle "" with respect to the hook - it has been shown that the existence of the recesses 13 and 17 makes it possible, during the opening and closing of the tool,
that the curved core 11 of the spring 1 remains against the groove 21 formed by the two branches of the tool without projecting towards the inside of the cavity 16, this characteristic also being facilitated by the sliding of the end hooks 14 on the branches 2a of the tool.
