Description
AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT Name of applicant: Brigitte Lydia MENTE Actual inventor: INVENTOR INVENTION TITLE: NATURE'S MOTHBALLS The following statement is a description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: NATURE'S MOTHBALLS For iiany years people have used Naphthalene Mothballs, flakes and moth crystals mad4 with PDB's (Para dichlorobenzene) to protect their stored clothes & linen against damage from fabric-hungry pests. Both these chemicals are known carcinogens and highly neurotoxic. The naphthalene mothballs may also look like lollies to small children and can be fatal If swallowed. (Naphthalene is a white crystalline hydrocarbon distilled from coal tar, used for eg in mothballs and dyes, also referred to as a household insecticide fumigant.) Nature's Mothballs are made from 100% natural unprocessed material that is treated with pure essential oil. Nature's Mothballs are biodegradable and a much healthier and more pleasant smel. ing alternative to using naphthalene or PDB's in the home. Small children woulI also find one very difficult to swallow, even if it tasted any good. Plac d in your cupboards or desired areas, either in a domestic or commercial area, Nature's Mothballs protect your clothes & linen from damage by releasing a long lasting aroma which repels insects. As well as being an effective insect repellent, the oil used is also known for its thera eutic benefits to humans, including the treatment of respiratory infections. So the fagrance in cupboards or desired storage areas is not only fresh & uplifting but good for the environment and the end user. The Gum Nuts from the Eucalyptus callophylla (Marri Tree) is an evergreen tree, native to Australia, grown for timber, oil or ornamental appearance. The gum nuts are firstly collected and then treated with controlled heating, in order to dry tlem and kill any pests which may still be inside. They are then tapped to remove any loose seeds or debris. The Nature's Mothballs are now ready to be soaked in pure Lemon Eucalyptus oil, or any other appropriate/desired compound/formula. After being thoroughly dried, they are then ready to use. The tside surface of the Gum Nut is quite sealed, like a walnut shell, whereas the inside is very porous and absorbent, like layers of fine mesh, similar to coconut husk. These features, as well as its pot-like shape, make the "Honky Nut" (as it's nick name ) an ideal receptacle for the essential oil, holding the fragrance for months.
2 Mo ification and variations such as would be apparent to a skilled addressee are dee ed within the scope of the present invention in the subsequent embodiments: The gum nuts are bell-shaped, pot-like, and make the "Honky Nut" (as it's nick namd) an ideal receptacle for the essential oil(s), holding the fragrance for months. The gum nuts are collected from Eucalyptus trees (Marri Tree), which is an ever green tree, native to Australia, grown for timber, oil or ornamental appearances, eucalyptus oil. The Invention may be better understood with references to the illustration of embodiments Natures Mothballs on pg 3 of this documemt (photograph). The gurn nuts are collected and treated with controlled heating in order to dry them and emove any pests which may still be inside. Refer side view (B) gum nut. The um nuts are tapped to remove any loose seeds or debris. Refer top view (A). The pim nuts are now ready to be soaked in pure Lemon Eucalyptus Oil, or any other appropriate desired compound/formula. Refer side view (C).
