Abstract

The invention relates to a method and device for assembling, particularly for lengthening, a pipe or system of rods (4, 5), in particular, of a drilling rod. According to the invention, an, in particular, pivotal lifting and positioning device (2) for receiving another pipe or rod element (4, 5) is provided on a holding device (1), for example, a support, in particular, for the driving or introducing device (11) of the pipe or system of rods (4, 5). For automatically connecting or screwing together abutting pipe or rod elements (4, 5), the driving or introducing device (11) and/or a separate turning device (10), which engages on the pipe or rod element (4, 5) that lengthens the existing pipe or system of rods, is/are provided in order to enable a further automation of the process of lengthening pipe or rod elements of this type.
