Abstract

Textile fabric (1) is fed (5) on to a continuous felt belt (4) while bent over a roller (3). It is then bent in the opposite direction while held between the belt (4) and the main roller (2). The feed speed is greater than the speed on the main roller (2). The contact surface (4a) of the belt is coated with an adhesive layer, e.g. silicone 2 to 15 mm thick. The intensity of felting of the belt is greater on the contact side (4a) than on the reverse side (4b). The main roller (2) is heated and can have an elastic surface.
