PAUL BOYTON IN THE CHUTES, NEW-YOR (V. ST. A.).
Device for moving the boats of an artificial boating canal system forward.
The present invention relates to a device in artificial systems for boat trips, through which the boats are to be moved in a suitable canal in the direction of travel,
According to the present invention, water lines under high pressure are laid along the canal, from which jets of water emerge in an oblique direction over the canal through lateral inclined openings. The latter, however, cannot enter the boats due to protective plates provided on them and are used to propel the boats by acting against meet the ledges on the side of the boat.
In the drawing given, FIGS. 1 and 2 show in plan and section a part of the canal with a boat on it and the water pipes for the water jets.
As shown in the drawing, a second canal A1 can also be installed between the walls of the canal A, which canal is of sufficient width to accommodate and allow the boat to pass through.
EMI1.1
held water can escape in oblique jets upwards and forwards in the direction of travel. The boat is protected on both sides and on the Stouereude
EMI1.2
Tubes J, J1 encounter water jets emerging and thereby give the boat propulsion.
As can be seen from the above, the interior of the boats is completely protected from the water jets by the mudguards. Passengers can drive through a permanent fountain without getting wet. Should the boat be or through the pouring water as well as through the oblique direction against its sides. cannot be moved quickly enough through the canal against the ribs m hitting water jets, a special drive device can be attached in the same.
