  Method of making amber varnish.

In order to produce a good mechanically and chemically resistant lacquer, amber would in itself be very suitable if it were possible to find a solvent that could be used for this purpose. Attempts have been made to melt the amber and then dissolve it. The lacquer obtained in this way does not contain the amber in a chemically unchanged form, but only its decomposition products, which are formed when it melts. In contrast, amber can be used as a varnish in colloidal solutions. There are methods of producing more or less good colloidal solutions from natural and synthetic resins of all kinds.

According to the invention, an extremely useful colloidal solution of amber in any liquid suitable for this purpose, such as, for example, can be used in a particularly advantageous and economically favorable manner. B. produce linseed oil by grinding or in an ordinary grinder or in some other way
 EMI1.1
under high pressure (500-3000 atm.). It is not a matter of a process for producing a lacquer coating by spraying, but rather of producing the paint itself, which is then applied to the object to be painted in any known manner. A suitable mixing ratio for this process is e.g. B. loto amber and 901 "linseed oil.

The purpose of the pressure is that the amber particles are torn to the finest pieces by the acceleration, centrifugal and frictional forces occurring in the jet and that they remain permanently suspended in the liquid.

The invention made it possible for the first time to produce a usable varnish which contains the amber in a chemically unchanged form.
