Device for cleaning the windshields of motor vehicles.
Devices are known which clean the windshields of motor vehicles by suction. or pressurized air using a cylinder. The drive shaft, which actuates the lever carrying the cleaning device, is moved by means of the toothed segment and toothed rack and the piston, which is under the action of the compressed or suction air, is controlled by valves. This arrangement of the control and movement organs is a major inconvenience. liche; because it makes a multiple arrangement of nozzles with through bores, precision machining and adjustment necessary if the device is to work. In the event of blockages, the driver cannot help himself.
The arrangement and the choice of the means of movement according to the present invention are much more advantageous.
In the drawing, the device is in 1 ig. l shown in cross section. It is attached in a known manner to the upper edge of the windshield. Fig. 2 shows a longitudinal section through the pressure or suction cylinder with the control members.
The cylinder a is clamped with the aid of the clamp b to the socket c of the upper edge of the glass pane d, as is known. The drive shaft e sits in a known manner between the two pistons t and g and carries a fork h which transmits the movement from the piston connection piece i to the drive shaft e by gripping a pin k. The rack with the tooth segment is thus eliminated. The reversal takes place with the help of slides 1 and 11 /, which are arranged at one end of the cylinder a in bores n and o. The sliders l and m. are inevitably controlled by a push rod p through the piston movement by a double lever q, r.
For example, if the suction source acts on the channel s as in Fig. 2, it sucks, blocked by slide 1, towards the piston t, at the piston g and the outside air presses the piston t, so that a shift towards the right end of the Cylinder a to takes place. The slide m has established the connection with the outside air. At the end of its path, the piston connection i pulls on the push rod p with hook t and controls the slide i! and m around. Now the suction source acts in front of the piston t and the outside air presses, since it is connected to the cylinder space behind piston g through slide l, the piston towards the slide.
So the piston always works alternately back and forth and thereby actuates the cleaner u, which is carried by a lever arm @ which is connected to the drive shaft e.
