Fig. 2 ist

<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Reversing device operated by pressure medium for drive machines, in particular for those of windshield wipers.
The invention relates to a drive device operated by pressure means (for example compressed air), which is particularly suitable for windshield wipers on windows, and relates in particular to the control of such drive devices, which can be described as simple in construction and reliable in operation .
The control according to the invention is particularly suitable for the drive device of the windshield wipers on vehicles in which negative pressure or a pressure medium for operating the drive device is available anyway, as is the case, for example, with steam locomotives, electric locomotives and motor vehicles that use a Druekluft - or a vacuum brake system. However, the device is not limited to vehicles, but can

The control according to the invention is illustrated on the drawing. Fig. 1 shows a vertical longitudinal section through the drive device, which has the driven rotary arm of the windshield wiper on one side and the pressure medium distributor on the opposite side. Fig. 2 is

In the working cylinder a of the drive device for the windshield wiper is the double-acting working piston b, the ends with seals and between the ends with a
Rod teeth are provided, by means of which it engages in the spur gear segment c, which is mounted on the axis of rotation d, on which the rotating arm or the rotating arms of the wiper are attached. The cylindrical housing f, optionally provided with a foot, for the exposed control slide g is attached to the cylindrical housing part. It is connected to the pressure medium source (possibly the main air tank of the vehicle) through connection e.
The control slide g has a groove'11, which is located in front of the mouth of the Druekmittelzullussrohres e and is made as long as the stroke of the control slide g. A bore i leads from the groove'11 through the control slide to the slide plate. From this pass channels I and a to the ends of the working cylinder. At some distance from these channels there are branch channels m and m ″ which serve as outflow channels.
Control channels k and o serve to act on the end faces of the control slide g from inside the working cylinder a; they are monitored by the end faces of the working piston. In order to be able to change the stroke and in this way get by with one and the same device for different pane sizes, the control channels k and o are present several times. Those that are not in use are conveniently closed with screws. The control channels k and o are grouped together in one channel y and y. Each of these channels leads to one end of the spool valve body. The ends of the same are closed by screw connections h in which there are throttle bores p.
They are so narrow that they allow a low back pressure to build up in the housing in order to prevent violent hitting of the control slide when approaching its end positions and to ensure safe reversing even when the operating fluid pressure is very low.
In order to prevent the control slide from moving too willingly, it is equipped with small, diametrically opposed Sehleifkölbehen r, which are under the influence of a loading spring q, as can be seen in FIG. A pin w (Fig. 2), which is fixed in the control slide and
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
protrudes through an elongated hole a: of the housing, offers the possibility of bringing the slide by hand into a position that prevents the drive device from starting if this should be necessary.
The operation of the device is as follows:
In the position of the parts shown in the drawing, the pressure medium inflow pipe e is connected to the lower end of the working cylinder a through the slide groove n and the channel; Propellant has moved piston b up to the central position. The space of the cylinder a located above the piston b is connected to the outside air via I and the throttle bore p in the screw connection h. The fact that the outflow takes place via the throttle bore p ensures that the piston speed does not become too high, i.e. that the windshield wiper moves at the required moderate speed over the window to be cleaned.
The lower end face of the slide g is connected to the free air via the lower throttle bore p, ie relieved. When the piston b overshoots the open channel k in its upward movement, propellant passes through k and y to the lower face of the slide g and drives it upwards; The fact that the throttle bores p are provided in the cover caps h of the slide valve housing f prevent a sharp, sudden movement of the slide.
Depending on whether one of the various channels k is allowed to act as a control channel, the point in time of the reversal, i.e. the stroke of the piston b or the failure of the windshield wiper, can be determined and thus has the advantage of using one device for different window sizes.
