Headlights for any light source, in particular for motor vehicles.
It is known that the headlights of motor vehicles must be fastened for the purpose of precise adjustment of the light cone in such a way that they can be rotated in all directions by a certain, if not a large amount.
For this purpose, it is common to fasten the headlight outside the housing by means of a ball joint. However, this design has the disadvantage that on the one hand the weight of the headlamp acts with a large lever arm in relation to the center of the sphere and, on the other hand, the frictional force holding the headlamp is only small due to the small size of the clamping surface, so that the headlamp changes its position slightly when vibrated .
In the headlight according to the invention, the disadvantages of the large lever arm and the small clamping surface are avoided. This is achieved in that part of the wall of the headlight housing is spherical and is clamped between two dome-shaped shells that form a holder.
The drawing illustrates an embodiment of the headlight in which the rear part of the housing is used for retention. It is s the headlight housing, k the spherical part of the latter and g the headlight support, which in this case does not have to be in the form of a fork, as is usually the case. The rear wall of the headlight housing is now completely or partially designed as a spherical cap and provided with a corresponding opening at the apex.
In the interior of the housing there is also a dome-shaped arched shell a, which ends in its center in the bolt-shaped, tubular extension b, d. e is provided with a thread on the outside. A second shell e, which is also formed in the form of a spherical cap with a corresponding radius, is pushed over this pipe attachment, while the bolt-shaped attachment itself is supported by an on the headlamp support <? located eye / inserted through and held by means of the nut d with washer e. When the nut d is tightened, the spherical caps a and c press against the part 7c of the housing and clamp it in any desired position.
It is expedient to design the bolt-shaped projection used for screwing tight in the manner described as a hollow body; the cavity then serves on the one hand to lead through the power supply cable and the cable connection or the gas supply lines, and on the other hand also to accommodate a manufacturing device for the light source, if one is provided.
