Der Akzeleratorhebel a ist in drei Stellungen a, a1, a2

Arrangement of the foot lever for adjusting the throttle valve on motor vehicles.
The present invention is concerned with a special device on the accelerator of motor vehicles, which has the purpose of completely shutting off the fuel supply as often as possible.
As is known, a foot lever (accelerator) regulating the mixture supply is provided in motor vehicles. In the now usual designs, the carburetor is still in the rest position of the accelerator
EMI1.1
If the accelerator is activated, i. H. If the foot lever is depressed, the throttle valve of the carburetor is opened more and more. When released, the accelerator automatically returns to idle
EMI1.2
This mode of action of the accelerator has so far been necessary because at the moment of
Change and thus necessarily. connected loosening of the coupling, the motor must never stand still. However, this has the disadvantage that in all other cases, for example in
When going downhill and the clutch is engaged, the engine is constantly receiving some gas.
In this case in particular, the consumption is even higher than it would actually be at idle, since the engine exerts a much stronger suction effect at the higher speed given to it by the car than would be the case with normal idle at low speed. In addition, it would be desirable that, especially when driving downhill, the engine not only receives no fuel and thus no force impulse, but on the contrary should exert a braking effect on the car:
These previously existing disadvantages are eliminated according to the invention in that the foot lever completely switches off the carburetor when released if the clutch is engaged, while when the clutch is disengaged it only allows the throttle valve to return to the idle position.
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment, when the clutch is disengaged, the foot lever is inevitably moved from the shutdown position to the idle position.
Two exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in the drawing. Fig. 1 is a side view of the first embodiment, which shows the connection of the accelerator with the coupling alone, Fig. 2 shows in a very schematic representation the connection of the accelerator both with the coupling and with the Anwerfvornchtung and the device to lock the To cancel the accelerator every time the accelerator is used.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the accelerator a swings about the axis b, on which the carburetor lever c and a lever m are attached, on which the tension spring d engages, through which the lever (t when released into idle or The lever c actuates the throttle valve of the carburetor (not shown) by means of the push rod E. The accelerator lever a is in three positions a, a1, a2

releases the required amount of mixture, a2 the full throttle position. The carburetor is completely open.
The clutch pedal is denoted by f. It is attached to the shaft g and actuates the lever h and the clutch! By turning the shaft g.
The clutch pedal f with the associated engagement and disengagement lever h is also in three
EMI1.4

Position r of that position of the clutch pedal at which the clutch just begins to release, the position f2 of the completely disengaged clutch.
EMI2.1
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the accelerator is automatically brought from the shut-off position into the idling position as soon as the starter device is used for the engine.
An angle lever is rotatably mounted above the accelerator lever a at ss, one arm s of which can interact with the lever a and the other lever arm t of which can interact with the starter device for the motor.
Of the starting device, the housing u of a foot switch is shown in the drawing with push button v, when it is pressed down (by the foot) an electric starting machine of a known type is switched on and put into operation, which in turn starts the drive motor of the motor vehicle until it reaches the has assumed the required number of revolutions to continue running automatically. The push button rod w is passed through the switch housing and meets with this extension on the arm t of the angle lever when the button v is depressed and the starting device is put into action.
In this case, the angle lever s is brought into the position indicated by dashed lines against the action of the spring x and presses the lever a into position al by means of the arm s, while the arm s is caught behind a nose y, which now prevents it to return to the original position under the influence of the spring x, even if the button v is released and returns to the extended position indicated by the retraction device built into the switch.
With the device described, the accelerator lever a is automatically brought from the shutdown position into the position a1 corresponding to the idling of the engine as soon as the engine is started.
The engine is thus given as much mixture during start-up as it needs to idle, and the like. between so long
