Es hat sich bei solchen Resonanzgehäusen, sofern sie für Geigen verwendet werden, herausgestellt, dass infolge der durchgehenden Wölbung von Ober-und Unterplatte über den ganzen Körper des Resonanzgehäuses der Ton, der erzielt werden kann, wesentliche Abweichungen von dem Ton einer normal gebauten Geige aufweist.
Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist nun ein Resonanzgehäuse für Streichinstrumente, das die Vorzüge der Verbindung von Ober-und Unterplatte durch entsprechende Wölbung unmittelbar miteinander mit den Vorzügen des normal gebauten Geigenkörpers, vor allen Dingen mit der Tonqualität verbindet. Dies wird dadurch erreicht, dass Ober-und Unterplatte so gewölbt sind, dass sie unter Wegfall von Ober-und Unterzarge miteinander verbunden werden können, dass aber die Mittelzargen, sei es, dass sie in der Ober-bzw. Unterplatte entsprechend ausgespart werden, sei es, dass sie besonders eingesetzt werden, bestehen bleiben.

Das Resonanzgehäuse besteht aus Oberplatte 1 und Unterplatte 2. Beide sind vorgewölbt ausgearbeitet, so dass sie sich beim Aufeinanderlegen an den Stellen der sonst üblichen oberen und unteren Zarge mit entsprechenden Leisten 3 und 4 unmittelbar oder unter Zwischenschaltung eines schmalen Holzstreifens berühren.
Die Mittelzargen J können gleich im Holz der Platten stehen bleiben, aber auch besonders eingesetzt werden. Auch können sie ähnlich wie obere und untere Zarge durch Vorwölbung der Ober-und Unterplatte ersetzt werden.
