Lead screw drive for lathes.
The invention relates to a device on lathes, by means of which it is possible in a simple manner to achieve a larger number of guide spindle speeds.
Similar devices have already become known in which a multi-ring toothed disc is used to change the lead screw speeds, but all these lathes suffered from confusion and unwieldiness due to the multiple transmission gears required for switching, including their shafts, switching levers and complicated axle bearings inconvenient construction come significant manufacturing costs.
The subject of the invention, which allows not only the cutting of a thread with millimeter but also with inch pitches, consists in the fact that the shaft of the displaceable drive wheel for the multi-point toothed pulley sitting on the lead screw is mounted in a bracket-like carrier that swivels around the lead screw axis can be established in a setting or the like, the intermediate shaft being driven by a helical gear seated on it, which works together with a helical gear seated on the lathe spindle.
An exemplary embodiment is shown in the drawing, namely FIG. 1 shows the new device as seen from the front longitudinal side and FIG. 2 shows an end view.
On the lead screw 1 driving the slide is seated a disk 2 which is provided with small holes arranged in concentric circles and which is driven as follows. A helical gear 4 is seated on the drive spindle 3 and engages in an exchangeable helical gear 5. The shaft 6 of the latter is mounted in a bracket 7 which, together with the shaft 6 and the wheel 5, can be pivoted about the axis of the lead screw 1 and fixed in the link 8 by means of the clamping screw 9. On the shaft 6, a wheel 10 is displaceable and lockable, which is provided on the circumference with radially protruding pins, pins or the like. These engage in the holes of the disc 2, the number of revolutions changes depending on the distance of the wheel 10 from the disc center.
