  Leak cloth for ships.

The subject matter of the invention is a simple leak cloth for ships that quickly becomes effective as a makeshift aid, by means of which the ingress of water into a leak that has occurred can be stopped safely and permanently within a few seconds.

While in the case of the leak cloths that have become known to date, cloths that are to be tightened or that are stretched taut within a frame from the outset are used, the special devices for fixing to the L-ecksHe srfordeor, that is to adapt to the shape of the leak, achieve the leak cloth according to the invention essentially an excellent effect due to the fact that it is attached to a rigid frame so that it sags.

This sagging cloth is inflated into a sack by the water flowing into the interior of the ship, which is pressed into the leak and seals it completely tightly in a very short time, as the device automatically adapts to any shape of the leak by pressing against its fracture surfaces and no further retaining devices are required to secure them.

In the drawing, the leak sheet is shown in FIG. 1 in a side view, in FIG. 2 in a plan view. 3 'illustrates the manner in which the cloth is used on a strongly curved part of the hull.

The licking cloth. b is attached to a fixed frame a sagging in the shape of a sack.

Its circumference should be at least one and a half times the length of the frame circumference, c are the necessary fastening ropes.

When in use, the leak cloth is thrown overboard as far as possible above the leak.

The frame, which is advantageously equipped with a local increase in weight and consequently adjusts itself vertically through the air during flight, is brought approximately to the level of the leakage point by means of the pull cables c. The water flowing into the leak drives the device against the leak point, the sack formed penetrates the interior of the ship through the leak and is not only pressed perpendicular to the ship's hull, but in particular also with regard to the hole in a peripheral sense against the leak edges in such a way that the leak completely tightly sealed '.

To prevent the formation of an air bag when the leak seal is thrown up, the sealing cloth folded in the frame can be held in place by tied ropes until the knot is made by a pull cord from board
