Verfahren zur Herstellung von Leim aus Hornsubstanz.
Es ist bereits bekannt, aus Hornsubstanzen durch längeres Erhitzen mit Wasser im Autoklaven bei Temperaturen bis 1200 C und darüber Leim zu gewinnen.
Da hierbei die Hornsubstanz in Lösung gebracht wird, muss der Leimbestandteil gefällt und dadurch gereinigt werden. Ausserdem verlangt die Leimgewinnung auf-diesem Wege die Einwirkung des Wassers in mehreren Verfahrensgängen, eine Apparetur von grossen Abmessungen und das Ausscheiden der lästigen, erheblichen Wassermengen.
Demgegenüber liegt das wesentliche Kennzeichen des vorliegenden Verfahrens darin. dass die Hornsubstanz allein-also ohne Wasserzusatz-längerem Erhitzen auf eine Temperatur über 2000 C im Autoklaven ausgesetzt wird. Es entfallen somit die durch den bisher üblichen Wasserzusatz bedingten Nachteile.
Die Leimgewinnung erfolgt in einem einzigen Arbeitsvorgang, die hierzu erforderliche Apparatur wird kleiner, die lästigen grossen Wassermengen entfallen und das Erzeugnis kann für viele Zwecke, beispielweise als Zusatz für Tüncherfarbe durch Behandlung mit heissem Wasser in Lösung gebracht, unmittelbar, d. h. ohne es vorher reinigen zu müssen, verwendet werden.
Insbesondere geht das Verfahren so vor sich, dass Hornsubstanz wie Klauen, Krallen, Nägel, Hörner, Haare, Federn, Wolle u. dgl. nach Entfernen grober Verunreinigungen im Autoklaven drei Stunden lang auf 2500 C erhitzt werden. Hierbei können der Hornsubstanz auch Chemikalien in trockener Form, z. B. sauer oder alkalisch reagierende Salze, zugesetzt werden.

The glue is obtained in a single operation, the equipment required for this is smaller, the annoying large amounts of water are eliminated and the product can be dissolved directly for many purposes, for example as an additive for whitewash paint by treatment with hot water.
