  Method of making mocha leather.

In the production of mocha leather, it is already known to subject the skins to a rapid treatment by heavy liming with lime and subsequent acidification, whereby the otherwise usual treatment time is reduced from several months to just as many weeks.

The subject of the present invention is a further improved and accelerated pickling process in which the skins are treated after two previous lime ashes and subsequent washing in an evaporated nitric acid solution in order to achieve an extremely accelerated decaling! kung to achieve, whereupon the skins spread an after-treatment with a. diluted borax solution has been exposed for the purpose of complete deliming, so that the total duration of treatment is reduced to about five days.

The skins to be processed are first softened during the treatment and then
 EMI1.1
they are placed in a suitable barrel to be stirred up.

They are then washed in lukewarm water and later in cold water and hair removed on the tree. The hides are then placed in the same liming again for five to six hours, after which they are washed and loaded twice in the drum.

of nitric acid, e.g. B. 300 9 acid to 100 l of water, set for about 30 minutes, refined and smeared out, in order to finally be exposed to the action of a dilute borax solution, 1 kg of borax per 100 l of water bel 200, whereupon a second purification and Garmachbn takes place. In this way, the skins can be processed into perfect mocha leather in about five days.
