Die bekannten Schmierkannen mit von aussen zu betätigendem Ventilverschluss sind meist undicht, d. h. sie lassen das Schmiermittel, besonders bei Schrägstellung oder Umkippen der Kanne, an verschiedenen Stellen ausfliessen, z. B. beim Ausflussrohr, bei den Lufteinlassöffnungen oder längs der Ventilstange durch die Drückerführung, und zwar auch dann, wenn das Ventil nicht betätigt wird. Dieser Übelstand soll nach der Erfindung dadurch beseitigt werden, dass der Ventilsitz an einem an die Drückerführung anschliessenden, die Ventilstange umgebenden Dichtungsrohr angelötet und mit radialen Öffnungen für den Ölaustritt und mit einem anschliessenden, nach oben reichenden Röhrchen versehen ist, so dass 01 nur durch das Ausflussrohr aus der Kanne ausfliessen kann.
