Process for deboning silk.
The present proceedings concern the deboning of silk.
The process consists of using an alcohol-based soap solution along with soda to debaste silk. The alcohol-containing soap solution used is obtained by saponifying a vegetable oil with alcoholic alkali.
There are z. B. 100 corn or cottonseed oil with 79 kg of 25% alcohol
EMI1.1
25 to 30 of the alcoholic soap solution obtained is used: it is placed in the water bath in which the degumming takes place. In addition, lOky calcined soda is added. The amount of soap and soda can be changed. The silk is left in the bath with warming until it boils, by repeatedly moving it and letting it stand once on this and once on the other side of the vat. The number of puffs and the length of time it takes to stand depend on the nature of the silk and the degree of deburring to be achieved. The delimbing takes place in a shorter time than. when working with soap alone. Soda that you can use for deburring
EMI1.2
the silk.
Not only vegetable oils but also animal oils as well as vegetable or animal fats after saponification with alcoholic alkali can be used. Otherwise, the procedure for clearing the branches is exactly the same as that described above.
Potash can be used instead of soda as an equivalent material.
