Process for the preparation of an insecticide which forms a mercury emulsion.

The present invention relates to a process for the production of a liquid or a mercury emulsion-forming protective agent which is particularly suitable both for the destruction of blood and scale insects and other pests that gnaw on the fruit trees, as well as for killing insects.

It is already known to use mercury ointment to eradicate animal pests on plants. Petroleum, gasoline, turpentine and the like have also been suggested for the same purpose. But these means individually did not produce a satisfactory result, because only the individual effects of the substances concerned could come into play. In contrast, the liquid or emulsion obtained by the present process, which simultaneously contains mercury, lard, tallow, petroleum, turpentine and gasoline, has an extremely energetic effect in this composition, whereby

by the fact that the agent combines the effects of mercury, petroleum and gasoline and turpentine which destroy insects and pests.

The mercury is used in the form of finely divided metallic mercury.

According to the present process, mercury, pork fat and tallow are

and turpentine is added, and finally gasoline is added to this mixture, the weight ratio of mercury, pork fats and tallow, also of petroleum, turpentine and gasoline being most advantageously 4: 5: 3: 36. However, this mixing ratio can change. This mixture or the constituents are then intimately mixed by vigorous stirring.

The affected parts (trunk, twigs, branches) of the trees and the areas to be protected are then simply painted with this liquid using a brush or the like. Due to the liquid state or as a result of the emulsion, it is easier to

 be completed.
