Bei den bekannten Luft- oder Gemischkühlungen der Kolben von Verbrennungskraft- maschinen ist keine geeignete Ableitungsvonichtung zur Überführung der Wärme an die Luft vorhanden. Bei diesen Kolben fliesst der Hauptteil der vom Kolben aufgenommenen Wärme durch das Material nach dem den Kolben führenden zylindrischen Kolbenschaft, während an die durch den Kolben strömende Kühlluft nur ein geringer Teil der Wärme gelangt.
