  Sewing strap.

The present invention relates to belts made of leather or similar material which are used for sewing or connecting drive belts or the like and which are to be pulled through narrow holes with their ends. In particular when combining thick drive belt ends, pulling the sewing belts causes difficulties. So far, the Näliriemerde were only sharpened and used without further preparation, or they were freed from fat by heating and thus hardened. In the case of chrome leather straps, it has so far been helpful not to brominate the ends, so that they retain sufficient rigidity.

Tips prepared in this way become soft again very quickly and it is difficult to work with such sewing belts.

It is now known to provide cords or similar material made of fibrous material with a fixed point by dipping the end of the cord into a celluloid solution and shaping it into a point. Although this method could also be used to stiffen the ends of the sewing belt, it would make the production of the sewing belt significantly more expensive and these tips would only have a slightly increased strength because the celluloid layer applied to them could only be very thin, around the thickness of the Do not enlarge the sewing belt too much.

According to the invention, these disadvantages are avoided in that the sewing strap is provided at its end with a flat tip made of celluloid or the like, forming its continuation, and this tip is permanently united with the leather by means of a collodion solution.

Such a celluloid tip sticks firmly, even to oily leather, and is very resistant

Sewing belts stiffened in this way are inexpensive to manufacture and can be stored. Using them results in a significant saving of time, since sewing is easier to do. In addition, it can be used to achieve stronger connections because the seams can be very tight.
