   Dovetail milling machine.

This dovetail milling machine works with two pairs of rotating cutter heads, one pair of which makes the tenons of one board, the other the slots of the second board. The cutter heads are formed from cutters arranged on radial arms of two axes that are to be set at an angle to one another. The axes are coupled by spur gears to ensure a smooth orbital movement. Their inclination towards one another is determined by the angle chosen for the dovetail shape of the prongs.

The plane in which the two axes are adjusted against each other is where the pins are

Circumferential knife bodies coupled to each other at an angle, the radial arms of which are evenly offset against each other and the two boards to be jointed with one cross support each are guided against their knife. The adjustment by one prong width takes place after the same division of mass for both pairs of cutter heads.

 examples.

Fig. 1 shows the part of the machine which cuts the tenons, Fig. 2 shows the same part of the machine in plan, partly in section, Fig. 3 shows the second part of the machine for milling the slots in partial elevation on a larger scale. Fig. 4 gives a schematic plan view of the machine of Fig. 2 and the board during it

On the base plate / (Fig. 1) rise against each other in guides 2 adjustable brackets 3, which carry the bearing blocks 4, in which the two axes 5 and 6 rotate. Spur gears 7 and 8 on the butting ends of the axles couple the same to a uniform rotational movement, which is communicated to the pulley 9 of one axle by a belt drive, which, because of the adjustability of the axle, has to run over a guide roller preventing the belt from sliding off the pulley 9 . Both axles can expediently be driven individually, so that then the front riders only have to adjust the radial arms against each other and the
