Man vgl. z.

Process for the production of a solid product used as a plant protection agent. which with water gives a copper oxychloride emulsion.

It is well known that agriculture has long been making extensive use of the compounds of copper to protect useful plants against parasites. Usually enough lime is added to copper sulphate in dilute solution so that it is completely converted into the insoluble basic salts or into copper oxide. This method has the disadvantage that the preparation of the spray liquid can only take place shortly before use, so that errors in the mixture can easily occur, especially if the workers are not careful. In this way, the effect of the agent is not only impaired and material is wasted, but it also causes direct damage to the plants.

For this reason, dosed packs have already been introduced which contain the required quantities of copper salt and lime in separate containers. However, these packs suffer from the drawback that the lime gradually forms lumps and becomes ineffective due to the attraction of water and carbonic acid from the air. The insoluble chlorine compounds of copper, such as copper chloride and copper oxychloride, have also already been proposed as agents for protecting plants. One cf. z. B. the annual report on the field of plant diseases for the year 1910 "by Prof. Dr. M. Hollrung, Berlin, 1912,

these products could not be introduced because of the high costs involved in their preparation using the known methods.

Only the Società Elletrica ed Elettrichimica del Caffaro has shown a useful way of producing cheap, ready-to-use spray preparations, which in their patent no.
