Method and apparatus for removing honeycombs from beehives.
The invention relates to beehives with separate honey and brood space and relates to a method and a device by means of which the honeycomb is removed from the beehives without damaging the bees, the method can be carried out without or with the use of gloves, Veils, incense or other narcotics can be used without fear of stab injuries.
The method forming the subject of the present invention, which can be carried out at any time when the bees are in the basket, consists in that the box forming the honey space is removed laterally and at some distance while the bottom opening of the honeycomb is closed and the brood chamber is covered from the beehive
EMI1.1
In the shape of a box, the box 1 is closed at the head by the cushion 1a, while the lower end of the box is open and in connection with the beehive. The honeycomb with a few bees is housed inside the box.
Fig. 1 shows the beehive with
EMI1.2
The side adjacent to the floor is provided with projections 3, which are expediently formed by two flat irons screwed to the plate, or the plate can be provided with a clamp in order to have it in the vertical position. The protrusions. 3 are supported in slots provided in the top edge of one side of the hive so that a tight connection is made when the panel is put in place and preventing the bees from escaping between the beehive and the panel.
The opposite side of the plate is provided with a cutout, which is closed by a slide 6 or the like. If an escape of the bees from the box is to be prevented, as well as 111 the normal position of the box in the hive. The temporarily used cover of the beehive in the form of a cushion is denoted by 7 and is at one end of the plate 8

Stopper is closed. The beekeeper then removes the cover of the beehive and loosens the frame) 7 from the body of the beehive in the known manner without one of the bees escaping and brings the mounting plate 2 against the side of the beehive into the position shown in FIG.
The plate 8 with the cushion 7 connected to it is simultaneously brought and held against the side of the extended box, preferably by a second person, so that while the box is being brought from the hive onto the plate 2, none of the bees can escape in this direction . After the box is transferred to the board

and the plate 8 is removed from the cushion 7 pushed forward by it, this provisional blanket lies over the head of the beehive. Before the EinnugöfSnung is cleared again, the usual wool pad and the roof is placed on the stick.
The box located on the plate 2 is then brought to an open house or shed or some other suitable room located at some distance from the beehive and the support plate is placed on the floor or on another suitable flat surface, whereupon the slide 6 and, if necessary, the Cushion covering the head of the box is opened to allow the bees to fly back to the honey basket, the entrance opening of which has been opened again, so that the honeycomb remaining in the box is free of bees and the honey can be removed by the beekeeper.
Instead of the plate 8 and the cushion 7 attached to it, an iron or tin plate or the like, one side of which is bent up, can be used when transferring the honey-filled box from the hive onto the platform to prevent the bees from escaping prevent. This sheet metal plate is not inserted between the box and the beehive, but follows the movement of the box 1 when it is pushed onto the plate 2 and covers the opening of the beehive that becomes free when the box 1 is moved in exactly the same way as the plate 8.
After the honey boxes are pulled out, new boxes can be placed on the sheet or the cushion and held in the correct position above the hive. The sheet iron or pad 7 is then pulled out from under the boxes.
