Der Vorgang beim Drohnensieben ist nun folgender : Der Drohnensiebkasten wird hochgestellt, so dass die Öffnung 2 sich oben befindet.
Nun nimmt man eine Brutwabe samt den daraufsitzenden Bienen und hält die Wabe so weit in den Siebraum, bis die Handballen an den beiden Schmalseiten des Kastens eine Stütze haben, worauf die Bienen mit einem kurzen kräftigen Ruck in den Kasten gestossen werden.
So nimmt man Wabe für Wabe, bis für die Zahl der Begattungskästchen, welche gefüllt werden sollen, genug sind. Kommen während dieses Vorganges die Bienen bis zum oberen Rand des Siebkastens, so nimmt man denselben und stösst ihn einmal zu Boden und alle Bienen fallen wieder nach unten in den Kasten. Nun nimmt man den Schieber 8, schiebt diesen ein
Stück in den Einfegraum 2 und legt den Kasten so um, dass der Blechschieber 7 oben ist. Nun nimmt man ein genormtes Begattungskästchen und stellt es mit herausgezogenem Schieber zwischen die Schieberschhtze 7. ? des Sieb- kastens und zieht langsam den Schieber 7 ein wenig heraus. Sofort stürzen die Bienen hervor, in der Hoffnung, ins Freie zu gelangen, kommen jedoch in das Einwabenkästchen.
Wenn genug
Bienen im Einwabenkästchen sind, so schliesst man langsam den Schieber 7 und gibt ins Ein- wabenkästchen den Verschlussschieber, stellt weg und nun kommt das nächste Kästchen an die
Reihe usf. Laufen die Bienen nicht mehr so rasch aus dem Siebkasten, so braucht man nur den Bienenschieber 8 ein wenig in den Sieb- kasten hineinschieben, damit die Bienen enger zusammengedrängt werden. Ist die Arbeit bz- endet, so kann man die Vorderwand 5 heraus- nehmen und die noch vorhandenen Bienen sowie Drohnen leicht herausfegen. Zum Füllen von 50 Einwabenkästchen in dieser Art be- nötigt der Imker normal 30 Minuten.
