Blackout device for headlights.
The invention relates to darkening devices for headlights in which the coals are arranged in the optical axis of the headlight and in which a cap open on one side is moved over the arc. The object of the invention is to completely prevent light from escaping from the headlight. It is achieved in that the surface of the headlight near the optical axis is designed so that it absorbs all incident light and does not reflect any light.
The invention is shown schematically in one embodiment in the drawing. The coals a and b are approximately) in the optical axis of the headlight c. A cylindrical or slightly conical cap d is pushed over the coal a, which tightly encloses the coal a with the neck e. To the headlight mirror. turned base of the cap d is open. The middle part f of the headlight mirror c strongly absorbs light and for this purpose is either matted and blackened or consists of a blackened grid behind which a closed box, which is also blackened inside, is attached. The inside of the cap d can also be blackened.
In the indicated position dt of the cap, the rays of the arc will fall on the entire mirror and be reflected by the reflective parts.
If the cap is gradually moved towards the headlight mirror, an ever larger part of the light is absorbed in the cap, and an ever smaller part is reflected by the reflective surface of the headlight f. A certain, always constant part is swallowed up by the absorption surface f. If the cap is in position d21, no more light falls on the mirror, but all light is captured by the anti-glare cap and the absorption surface. No more light can get out of the headlight.
