Process for the production of yellow-green pigment colors.

Malachite green (tetramethyldiaminotriphenylkeninol) and brilliant green (tetraethyldiaminotriphenylcarbinol) are used extensively to produce green pigments.

But since even the most yellow-tinged of these dyes - brilliant green - still produces rather bluish tones, there has since been a sensitive lack of suitable dyes to produce the valued yellow nuances, which can be countered by mixing the above-mentioned dyes with yellow dyes, primarily auramine suehte.

It has now been found that the malachite green dyes from p-chlorobenzaldehyde are excellently suited to filling this gap.

The p-chloromalachite green is already considerably more yellowish than the ordinary brilliant green, and the chlorine brilliant green is even more yellow. The pigment dyes from this have such a pure hue that the above-mentioned mixtures of brilliant green and auramine cannot even remotely compete with them; In addition, the dyes offer all the advantages that a uniform product has over a dye mixture.

The success achievable with the present method could not be foreseen according to the scant and contradicting information in the literature.

The first representative of p-chloromalachite green and p-chloromalachite green states that the colorations produced with these dyes are bluer than those of ordinary malachite groin (A. Kaeswurm, Diss., Munich 1886, p. 14). This information is corrected in German patent specification No. 94126 insofar as the nuance of the dyes is described as yellowish gray, but at the same time as worthless.

The emergence of very valuable yellowish varnishes was therefore not to be expected.

The use of the chlorinated dyes corresponds completely to the usual use of malachite green and brilliant green for the production of pigment colors.
