EMI1.1

EMI1.1
The present invention relates to a device by which the effects that are brought about by sudden gusts of wind and enable the airplanes to tilt are automatically canceled, a counteraction corresponding to the gust of wind being automatically generated at the point of the aeroplaner hit by the gust of wind. For this purpose, according to the invention, a special group of louvre-like movable surfaces is arranged below each wing half of the airplane, which usually serve as additional wings.
These blind surfaces are each connected to an extension surface that is hinged to the side of the fixed main bearing surface and can swing freely in such a way that in the event of a gust of wind that moves the extension up or down, the blind surfaces are adjusted from their normal bearing position in such a way that their load-bearing effect in opposite direction to the gust of wind comes into effect and thereby paralyzes the effect of the gust of wind.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the device for eliminating the adverse effect of gusts of wind on a monoplane is shown schematically and is shown in FIG. 1
EMI1.2
illustrates the mode of action.
According to the present invention, further wings c in the form of a blind surface are arranged below the wing b, which in their normal position serve to enlarge the entire wing of the airplane.
On the wing b, an extension surface d is hinged, which is attached to the full wing by suitable means, for. B. springs. is held in such a way that this extension surface forms an extension of the wing. However, due to its articulated connection with the wing, this extension surface cannot act as such by itself. This extension surface is through a translation by means of wheels. Chains or otherwise connected in an appropriate manner to the blind surfaces in such a way that when the extension surface moves, all individual parts of the blind surface are automatically rotated at the same time.
The connection is made in such a way that the adjustment of the blind surfaces changes their bearing effect in the sense that
EMI1.3
Aeroplan therefore cancels.
The mode of operation of the present device is as follows:
If a gust of wind hits the wing from above, the hinged extension surface is moved downwards by the same. This movement of the extension surface is transmitted by the translation to the blind surface, the partial surfaces of which are adjusted in such a way that the lifting effect of the blind surface itself up to the maximum of a full wing

4, II) so that an effect is generated again on the blind surface that counteracts that of the gust of wind and cancels its disadvantageous influence.
Because the individual blind surfaces are independent of each other, the effect is
EMI1.6
Adjustment of the blind surface depends on the strength of the gust of wind. both in the case of gusts of wind acting on one side and on both sides, be it in the opposite direction or with gusts of wind acting with different forces, the counteraction is always generated to the extent that it corresponds to the strength of the shock.
