   Der Zweck der Führung ist der, die Kartoffeln von bestimmten Stellen des Rostes fernzuhalten, sodass dort ohne die Gefahr einer Beschädigung der Kartoffeln ein kräftiges Schlagwerk zur Wirkung gebracht werden kann. 



   Die Leitstäbe b gabeln sich nach unten. In die zwischen der Gabelung verbleibende Lücke greifen die Arme o einer   Sohlagtrommel f,   die von einer der Walzen c oder d aus durch einen Riemen in Umdrehung versetzt wird. Hierbei ist es unerheblich, ob die Drehrichtung des Schlagwerks mit dem in Fig. 1 eingetragenen Pfeil übereinstimmt oder nicht. Wichtig ist hingegen, dass eine bestimmte Mindestdrehgeschwindigkeit innegehalten wird, damit das Kraut von den durch ihre Trägheit zurückgehaltenen Kartoffeln sich wirklich lostrennt und nicht etwa eine Mitnahme der Kartoffeln erfolgt.
