Die Verwendung von Aluminiumlegierungen für hochbeanspruchete Teile scheitert im allgemeinen daran, dass ihre Festigkeitseigenschaften nicht genügen.
Von L. Mach ist vorgeschlagen worden, dem Aluminium, eventuell neben Zusätzen von Messing, Kupfer, Zink u. s. w., einen Zusatz von Magnesium, und zwar im Betrage von über 2%, zu gehen. Diesf Legierung ist das bekannte Magnalium. Legierungen mit weniger als 20/0 Magnesium wurden aber als unbrauchbar betrachtet.
