Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

The invention relates to a device for separating and pushing together a folded printed product of a rotary machine that has been deposited in a scale-like manner on a conveyor belt by a star boom. The printed products, mainly newspapers, have to be produced and made ready for dispatch every day and in the shortest possible time. To this end, a large number of workers are employed in counting and stacking. Some devices have therefore already been created to automate this workflow.

All these existing devices assume that in the imbricated flow of the printed product coming from the folder, either the edges mechanically or photoelectrically scan the shadow cast by the overlap, amplify this impulse, count it, store it and stop the imbricated flow in an electronically controlled manner To obtain partial flows and to form the stack from them. With these devices, the partial flows must be sufficiently spaced from one another and be evenly ordered so that an accurate count can take place.

By taking out sample copies, however, the even position of the individual copies is often disturbed. For all these reasons, a simplification of these facilities, which also counts flawlessly, is appropriate and economically desirable.

In order to avoid the disadvantages, it is proposed according to the invention in a device of the type mentioned above that a separating fork, which is moved synchronously with the star boom, is arranged after this, as seen in the direction of movement of the imbricated stream, divides the imbricated stream into partial streams of counted printed products and that in the spaces between the partial streams engaging transport forks are provided.

The invention is based on the assumption that the shingled stream will be separated at the exit from the folder and as a function of the running speed of the machine, before personal intervention is possible, in order to be able to count accurately.

The invention is explained using an exemplary embodiment in the drawings. 1 shows a side view of the device, FIG. 2 shows a floor plan with a device for forming a cross stack, and FIG. 3 shows a view A of FIG. 2.

In the paddle wheel --1-- of the folding device, the falling out of the folded product onto a conveyor belt can already be delayed in a known manner, so that the scale spacing is slightly increased at a desired point.

This enlargement of the distance facilitates the exact separation depending on before and shortly after the folding process, because there is a somewhat larger space for reaching into and stopping by a correspondingly moved separating fork --2-- and all other copies are not unnecessarily wide-like it is necessary for subsequent counting - must be pulled apart. The stacking can therefore take place more smoothly than with the already known stacking devices, which often first pull apart and then have to push them back together again.

The counted, separate partial flow --3-- is passed either directly or via known conveyor belts at a greater distance, over obliquely upward sliding rails --5-- and by engaging a transport fork --4-- from below into the free space below simultaneous shaking and lateral slapping, pushed together over an inclined plane using gravity to form a stack from behind.

The stack formed in this way is discharged onto a conveyor belt --6-- that runs horizontally again. In the case of folded printed products that are stacked, the stack is higher on the folded edge than on the open edge, despite air being squeezed out, and the upper copies would slide off at a corresponding height of the stack. It is therefore necessary, in order to be able to form a large one, to place the individual stacks on top of one another, rotated by 1800, and to build a so-called cross-stack --12-. For this purpose, the individual stacks are held up alternately at two points - 7 and 8 - that are slightly more than the length of the product apart, and are lifted off the running conveyor belt
 EMI1.1
animals are now staggered at different points on the conveyor belt going out at a right angle and are transported further.

Just before their outer edge, the staggered stacks are rotated by perpendicular deflecting rollers - 9 and 10 - each to the center by 90 on the conveyor belt, so that they are now one after the other transversely in one direction (i.e. no longer offset) once with the folded and come once with the open edge at the front to a paternoster --11 - by means of which they are placed on top of each other. From there, the stack of crosses --12 - can be transported away for addressing, packaging, tying, etc.
